Four Clams to Represent Big 8 in All-Star Game

Yiotis “Yo-Yo” Stratzalis, Guillermo “The Spaniard” Álvarez, Michael “Duke” Christiansson and Italo “Il Mollusco” Campioni are all headed to Scale Stadium for the League V.7 Season 19 All Star-Game. Yo-Yo will get the start at Power Forward and The Spaniard will get the start as Center as the team from the Big 8 faces down their Great 8 rivals. They are joined by Dara Ruffell (PG) and Garifallos Saltiris (SF) of the Gregori Jaguars and league scoring leader Togla Özbek (SG) of the Atlanta Celtics. Duke and Il Mollusco will have back-up duties along with Aarno Lehtmets (SF) and Felix Sofronov (PF) of the L.A. Slakrs and Marcello Garripoli (C) of the black.wolves.

When asked about teammates Álvarez and Stratzalis getting starting positions while being named a back-up for the second year in a row, Campioni had this to say: “It doesn’t matter to me. It is an honor to be chosen for this team. Guillermo and Yiotis have worked hard all season and have been dominant forces down-low for us. They’ve earned it. But don’t expect them to be the game’s high scorer.” He was obviously referring to his game-high 29 points in last season’s

Christiansson said, “I’m looking forward to facing Hu and Ubaldo with Italo. Look for some fireworks when we get put in.” Álvarez also expressed excitement at getting to face down the league’s top rebounder in Scalamandre. “I think he’s a great player. But the Terrapins have such a one-dimensional attack. I’ve been looking forward to testing myself against him when he’s got back-up.” Stratzalis has been publicly stoic about receiving the news. But his teammate and co-nationalist Panayiotis Saleas said, “When he found out he was jumping up and down in the locker room singing ‘Who got game? I got game!’ over and over again. He didn’t stop until Lo came over and punched him in the shoulder. Then he mellowed out a little.” Lo Guo Hui just missed being voted into the back-up PF slot by just 2500 votes, and has since asked coach Simon to look into trading him back to his native Hong Kong.
