Clams Claim Conference Coup

The Clams logged a 112-43 win over the Basket Heads, last night in the third game of a 5-game road trip. The win means a sweep of the first round of intra-conference play. Led by the outstanding scoring of Italo "Il Mollusco" Campioni, the rebounding of Guillermo "The Spaniard" Álvarez, and the shut-down defense of Michael "Duke" Christiansson, the Clams have powered through the Big 8 and recorded the highest point differential in the league. Their top-rated defense has been one of the key components to the Clams' success, as they have allowed 11 fewer points per game than any other team in the league.

As the Clams look ahead to their opponents in the Great 8, they are hoping to lock up home court advantage for the playoffs. And it looks like they could. Their toughest games will be Wok Style and the Memphis Libras, which luckily will both be at home. Another tough game will be at Beefcake's Firestorm with the TV cameras rolling. But with any luck the Clams should be able to win at least 2 of these contests.

In tournament news, the Clams' cup run will soon be over. This week they drew the Wildens, a division 4 team ranked 1000 places higher nationally. And bookies' odds have them at less than a 1% chance in the contest.
