CALOOCAN CITY — The Barangay 168 Spiders are now authors of one of the greatest seasons in BBO history after a stunning championship victory with only 1 defeat throughout the season.
The Spiders won the franchise’s second championship — and first since it rebranded from the Spider Forest to the Spiders — by capturing Game 2 of the BBO Finals over the JJs Brachys 130-110 on Saturday.
Barangay 169 won 21 regular-season game. Speaking of the player deemed most valuable during the regular season, Chris Gamon, the 29-year-old Bulakeño, scored 37 points in the series-clinching win and was unanimously named finals MVP. Chris "Echo" Gamon shot 14-of-18 — and 5-of-8 at the three point line. He averaged 28.5 points in the PlayOffs.
“Feels amazing — so much weight off my shoulders,” Gamon said. “I am just glad and happy that I finally lead this team back to the promise land.”
