Another Deep Tournament Run

OMAHA - For the third time in five seasons, the Omaha Racers have advanced to the fifth round of the National Tournament.

This year's opening opponent was Rim Rockers (a 95-81 road win for the Racers), followed by fifth-division T.G.F.B. (89-65), Kentucky Wildcats (105-79), and H-Town Rockets (a hard-fought 97-91 win).

The Racers have had the good fortune to have their last three tournament games at the Civic. But historically, they've also had the misfortune of drawing a relative heavyweight in Round 5. Division III teams Chicken Creek Blazers (in season 9) and Ruination (last season) disposed of Omaha with ease.

With 122 Division IV or Division V teams still alive, and the Racers playing like a promotion contender, the chance remains for a manageable draw that will send the Racers to their deepest tournament penetration yet.

The Round 5 draw will occur later today.
