OMAHA - The Racers have added two new players, both Italians, to their backcourt.
(7147920) Federico Amoroso, 28, whose name translates to "Fred Lover", was acquired from Italian Division V side Black Majors. The high-scoring small forward spent six seasons with the team, where he was a consistent 15 PPG scorer.
(9372749) Francesco Munegato, 22, aka "Frankie the Cat", was already playing in the United States, in Division V. His old team, Roids, was noteworthy for its unusual strategy of playing only three players
(20478487). Despite that handicap, he put up good numbers, and is expected to man the shooting guard position for the Racers next season.
Both players are proven Division V scorers who will be expected to provide points and assists in the Racers inside-oriented offense.
Leaving Omaha was shooting guard Almir Zelezinger, who was transferred to an Estonian club for $300 000. "AZ" averaged 23, 20, and 12 points per game in his three seasons in Omaha. His frenetic shooting kept the team competitive in its first seasons in Division IV; he is expected to join the team's Hall of Fame, alongside Cristian Miguel Bracco, who is retiring.
Also leaving the Racers was Thorn Hunt, who never quite fit in with the Racers. He joins a Division V club in Poland.
