Yesterday's Hero, Today's Goat

OMAHA - Last season, Real Ballers' Iranian guard Bamshad Harfangian (9743313) crushed the Omaha Racers with a game-winning three-point shot.

This season, he fumbled the ball out of bounds with one second to play, giving the Racers a crucial 114-113 win over Real Ballers at the Civic Auditorium, and their first win in four tries against the Ballers.

"That's the way it goes sometimes," said Racers owner Jerry Midwest.

After the Racers blew a 10-point lead early in the fourth quarter, Farhangian looked like he'd be the hero again when his steal of a Hidacio Charino (9797857) pass led to a Yoram Twily (8154323) basket that gave Real Ballers a 113-112 lead. But Charino atoned for his error when he threw back an offensive rebound off a Bob Booth (9797870) miss, giving Omaha a 114-113 lead that held up when Harfangian fumbled the potential game-winning shot.

Tempering the Racers' enthusiasm is the fact that star guard Almir Zelezinger sustained yet another injury, the severity of which is not yet known.
