We beat NZ, but they beat us UP!


In today's game vs New Zealand our boys made a meal out of the game.

Always in the leading, but not convincingly enough to pull away, NZ trailed us all game and came close a few times to taking the game away.

In a match where the NZ'ians decided 'If we can't beat Malaysia, we'll beat them UP!' almost a third of our points came from free throws.

Up and comer Geng was sent out of the game after 7 minutes by a vicious flagrant foul. Star PG Zhou, who was in unimpressive shape, also joined the injury list later as the aggressive play from the NZ'ians continued.

With 13 missed free throws showing a glaring weakness in our line up again. I'm hoping our NT players' managers will look into this. No points from the charity stripe should be going to waste!

Yao continues to be our MVP. Again carrying the team forward with another excellent performance and great stats, 28 points from 11-18 shots, 19 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks. The future for our C's look great!

Veteran Samsul put up solid numbers as well. Contributing 26 points, 4 steals and 7 assists.

Feriza also impressed, going 11-13 and torching the opponent for 20 points.

All in all, a solid performance by us, with us sneaking away with a 12 point win in what was a very close match due to the fact NZ put in more effort in the game than us. Hats off to them for a good game.
