Parrots Miss Play-Offs

After tonight's disappointing 85-94 loss to title candidate LA Lakers in a CT vs TIE game (23220975), the mood in the Meidling team quarters is uncharacteristically hostile. Josef Ka is mumbling curses against the league, whining that the delayed start of the game meant that a critically timed player sale was already completed when the game started, which in turn ended up in a self-destructive appearance of Reischl at the PF spot in the last 1:12 minutes of the game after Turbato fouled out. And Turbato himself is the uncommon target of much criticism after being thoroughly outplayed by his fellow NT-Italia buddy Pierpaolo Fanesi. Turning up for the game in only respectable shape due to his recently initiated minute-collecting programme, Turbato couldn't overcome Fanesi's defensive prowess, robbing the Parrots of their usual high-percentage-scoring option. "There are maybe not many players in the game that can shut Turbato down like this, unfortunately one of them was in our opponent's lineup for this decisive game", said Josef Ka, who didn't comment on his own contribution to the loss by choosing both offensive and defensive tactics just the way the Lakers wanted. And so in spite of several nice wins in a competitive conference - highlights maybe the ones against 3D Dennis and Haselbach - the season winds up in the no man's land of rank 5, one up from the last two seasons but with uncertain prospects for the next.
