Season 44 Update

Reminder: Please keep your minutes in check, 60-72 mins as a general rule for game play and between 48-72 mins on training position.

Season 44:
The Irish team started in Pool C in the qualification for the Europe U21 Championship Tournament with slightly high hopes that we could try to upset things. On the first glance of the opponents I dreamed that we could hope for a 2nd place depending on the results, but for that we had to do something special in the last 3 games with Russia, Spain and Estonia assuming wins in every game until that point. It seems that we counted your chickens beforehand since after wining comfortably with Armenia we surprisingly lost with Cyprus and we repeated the "performance" against Austria. We had a great enthusiasm, but nothing to fight for ... The matches with Russia and Spain were good but we missed too many shots (not all players being in the top form thou the season was well underway). Then there was only one more chance, to win in the last game with Estonia and regain the honor of this poor campaign. That did not worked as planned as well since the enthusiasm level was matched by the skillful opponents and we continued to have poor scoring percentages.

We have tried to play friendly games with similar ranking teams like England or Denmark but that did't gave results either, therefore we had to choose slightly lower ranked teams to have a chance of winning. We won against Cyprus and one could say that we avenged the result form the group stage, but again they played with the new generation of players while we didn't, so this does not count.

Season 45 hopes:
It would be fantastic to be able to catch the first 32 teams and qualify for the play-offs for the Consolation tournament as we did in the previous campaign, but with the current trends of training progress and selection I do not see that happening. I hope that you will be able to train more players and since the selection is scares, a serious training pattern will be immediately rewarded with a Irish U21 selection.

I will continue to do the best I can with the options that I have and if you request for help I will always try to support you within my availability.

Go Eire!
