Hanguk U21 99 - 85 Kazakhstan U21
(51034)

It's been a while since we last did this, and since this is a very crucial game to how our season is going to play out, let's get some live status going.

Tuning in with 5:32 left in the first Q, we are down 12-13. Our core is a bit young and inexperienced. Hoping they will get some valuable lessons in these games and we can make a run next season in the consolation tournament. Both teams put in the same enthusiasm, so it should be a close game. Sung-Mok Kim (46557597) in early foul trouble with 2 fouls before the first Q is done. 24-28 with just 1 second to spare before the end of the Q. Oh-Jin Kim (46557613) tries to throw up a prayer to bring us closer before the quarter... no dice. Hanguk 24 - 28 Kazakhstan at the end of the 1st

Turnovers and solid defensive matchups to start the quarter. Yoo-Chan Kim (46905370) hits from three to bring us a bit closer 27-30. Almost half way through the 2nd, 7:58 remaining, the only non-"Kim" in today's starting lineup, Song-I Yoo (46557599), is making his presence felt with a triple. Also running into foul trouble picking up his third. Yoo, again picking up the slack brings us even closer, 39-40 with 6:11 remaining. Oh-Jin Kim (46557613) throws up a 3 ball to give us a bit of a lead, 44-40. Oh-Jin, the senior on the team is now taking it upon himself to carry this team, throws in another jumper, 46-40, 4:17 remaining in the half. Off of a timeout, the Kazakhs score, 46-42. We are being out-rebounded big time, Kyung-Do Kim (46865745) holding it down for us with 10 rebounds so far against the Kazakh big men who have 12 and 9 respectively. Sung-Mok Kim picks up his 4th foul with 1:19 left in the half, Kazakh sinks in 1 of 2, score now tied at 49-49. Sung-Mok needs to be careful, we`ll need him the rest of the game. Speaking of Sung-Mok`s importance to the game, he hits a three with 3 seconds left in the half. We head into the break with the lead. Hanguk 52 - 49 Kazakhstan. Half time.

Coming off the break a little cold, no scoring in the first minute. Oh-Jin finally hits. 54-49. Kyung-Do cleans up the rebound and goes for a put back. 56-49. Some trading of baskets, Song-I Yoo gives us our first double digit lead with a triple. 63-51. Defense being a bit passive, the Kazakhs claw back to 8 point deficit. 65-57 with 4:11 remaining in the 3rd Q. Nothing falling in for us this quarter but we still manage to outscore the Kazakhs this quarter 19-14. Yoo-Chan Kim (46905370) picks up his double double after sinking in a jumper with 1:19 to go in the 3rd Q. Flood of scoring towards the end of the Q. Hanguk 73 - 67 Kazakhstan

Both teams banging away with nothing much to show for it at the start of the quarter. Oh-Jin hits a corner three! 78-69. Yoo-Chan drains another three! 81-71, 9 minutes left in the game. Kyung-Do picks up his double double with a slam 7 minutes left in the game. 85-73. All hands on deck with half a quarter remaining. Everybody picking it up with rebounds and assists and work on the defensive end. Keeping on par, hanging on, trading baskets. 89-80. Oh-Jin tries to sink the dagger and put this game away with 4:22 remainin... no dice. 2 minute drought and finally a jumper from Song-I- Yoo at 2 minutes remaining. 91-82. Song-I makes it a mission to close out the game, another basket. 1 minute remaining. 95-82. Kazakhs hit a corner 3 to bring it to 95-85, and here comes the fouls and free-throw shooting contest. Our opponents concedes. Final score. Hanguk 99 - 85 Kazakhstan.

we are now 2-0 this season in the Season 46 Asia U21 Championship Tournament.

An overall balanced effort with contributions from everybody to bring us to 3-0 this season and what hopefully promises us more round robin games this season.
off week next week so hope we can get some rest, continue to train, so that we can get more pops for our next run of challenges.
good job everyone

Hindsight is 20/20
and even then I don't think it was worth the risk.
had we lost the game, this season would be a whole different story

good luck in your game! I'll be tuning in

Great job, guys! I know it probably cannot continue like this for the whole season - but I sure hope it does

Still a strong season - even with only „half“ the team. Would have been great if you made the POs...it‘s still kind of possible but also a little bit unlikely after the CT today But hopefully there will be a time when all the players are in good GS and we have both Front- and Backcourtplayers that are international stars
