Did Arizona try "too" hard?

Leading up to the game Saturday with Ambitious and Misunderstood, Arizona Coach Mahody preached the importance of leaving it on the court. He reminded his players that there would be a week until their next game; and sitting on a loss for an entire week looking back wishing they put more into the game would not be an option.

Well, Arizona gave no shortage of effort in their game with A&M...but did they try too hard? Reminiscent of the way the Miami Heat attacked the Celtics, Arizona attacked the hoop. They literally hurled themselves through the air, through Misunderstood players, towards the hoops. Their plan half worked, A&M was called for foul after foul. However, Arizona missed FTs early the game, allowing the home team to grab a lead.

Defensively, the Desert Swarm defense was doing just that, they flew all over the place; they had steals, most of them in the first half, but their effort seemed to take themselves out of position for rebounds. They were constantly reacting and chasing to get back in the play for a rebound. At one point early in the second quarter, Arizona had 13 total rebounds, and A&M had 10 offensive reobunds alone.

Nearly ever starter for Ambitious was in foul trouble at halftime....but the early effort seemed to wear out the visitors and Ambitious took total control of the game, and Arizona wore down having no chance at a comeback in this one.

This was a heartbreaking defeeat that has left players, and coaches alike trying to figure out what went wrong, and how to adjust going forward. The bad news is that this loss has to stick in their minds for a week....but the good news is they have a week to address whatever issuees they have before a home game against the Running Pie Eaters.
