I would prioritise the following going forward on our NT

1) passing on bigs
2) IS roster wide
3) some 18/19 year old HOF rookies might have to train for the NT day 1(owner permitting). This is how we catch up to some other super countries who already do this.

Now, I don’t necessarily agree with that point, but I do think we need actual fresh ideas. We can’t keep cycling through the same 5 managers who run, win elections but lose our hearts, take 5 seasons off, and then run again, fail at winning us back, take 5 seasons off. It’s a boring cycle, and doesn’t keep American managers motivated to listen to us.

Okay candidates,

The last time we made the semifinal at worlds was season 38. What aren't we doing right? How would you get us there? What is the most important thing in your opinion that should change in order for our national team to get to the next level again?

I like that literally none of your priorities are anything close to new then the next sentence calls for fresh ideas.

I needed an edit. Charles made several points in his question. My top points were my ideas. My 2nd part was responding g to his criticism for the obvious failures we’ve had since season 38

I can’t speak for the latest administration, but during my second third and fourth terms it was:

S48 Barely missed semifinals, finishing 5th in final group. That’s our best finish since S38.
S50 Bad run of injuries
S52 Dealing with a rogue manager trashing multiple NT players and hurting our opportunity to be successful so I made the decision to turn attention that season away from failing miserably at Worlds to making a Consolations run and setting up the team and next manager the next season as host of Americas.

Looking at the roster from this past season, the talent is far and away better than what I had just a few seasons ago. I don’t see any reason the US can’t get back to Worlds semifinals then get weird from there. Input on the Discord is also at an all time high. That’s a credit to Dub’s term but also how much effort I put into getting input and interest back in the NT program, sometimes still working alone.

What I brought to the table before is exactly what I bring now: tactical precision and constant prep both on my own and with managers than I’m always bouncing ideas off of and taking suggestions from.

I think I brought this up but some players might have to be separated early from the u21 path to focus on NT training so we can achieve more complex, focused training builds. Primaries win the u21 but training primaries on a 6’10 big until he’s 22 is going to make it damn hard to get him to the build we need (read; more secondaries) if he’s taking 4 weeks to pop in OD instead of 2. Maybe popping 7 times in passing for an 18 year old is better than 4 times when they’re 25? Height permitting, Primaries will always train faster no matter the age. We need those secondaries sooner.

It’s a tough line to toe because I love the u21 and want them to win every game but sometimes the focus for u21 glory with players has already put a player behind the curve for the full NT, and we have suffered because of it.

So more open and frequent communication with the u21 manager, absolutely. The rest is a case by case, player by player basis.

But player development is my focus. Some managers can and probably will offer more acumen in tactical, or scouting areas (maybe!). But player development is key for me or whoever’s after me to win the whole damn thing
