United States 86-69 Brazil
Decent game out of the squad today, although definitely could have been better. The team came out firing on all cylinders in the first half, taking a 27 point lead at half. The 3rd quarter was pretty even, but the 4th quarter got a bit ugly with the backups in play. It also did not help that our backup center got injured at the start of the 4th, so our reserve PG played at center the entire 4th quarter. At the end of the day, though, a win is a win and we take those.
Next week we got Mexico, who will be one of the tougher matchups of this second group. They are headed by a very strong 92k center Olivio Barcala, and behind him a 54k center Nicasio Munguia. They are then rounded out with a nice set of guards around the 20k range in terms of salary. It will be a tough matchup but we will prepare this week in practice and come to the game ready to work.
