United States 107-55 Uruguay

Complete dominance today, as we were in full control of the game from the start. The first half was good, nothing crazy but we went into the half up by 14. The 3rd quarter was a complete destruction of the Uruguay defense, along with them being locked up on offense. We outscored them by 30 in the quarter, 37-7. The backups came in for the full 4th quarter and put together a nice performance growing our lead just a little more. Webster had a great game shooting 9-13 with 23 points, adding on 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Polk did not have the best shooting day but still walked away with the double-double; 10 points and 18 rebounds.

Now next up is Mexico, I initially thought this week was Mexico but had the schedule switched, so my writeup for them is in the above post. A win in this game likely secures first place in our group heading into playoffs, so it is an important game for us. Let's secure that top spot!

Go USA!

Good overall win today that secures us 1st seed headed into the playoffs! Team played great through 3 quarters, but the backups came in and put up a lackluster performance in the 4th, making this game look a lot closer than it actually was. Lonnie Miller put up a great performance at the SG position, shooting 10-16 with 20 points and 5 assists. Not far behind him came Joseph Hobbs with 17 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. We were also quite efficient from the FT line shooting 86% as a team.

Next week we get Dominican Republic, who is currently 1-2 and coming off a pretty brutal loss to Uruguay. They look to have some nice up and coming pieces for their future rosters, but as far as this season goes this should be a pretty routine and comfortable win. Playoff prep starts now!

Go USA!

Clean win today as we completely trampled our opposition. The game was a little bit too close for my liking at half, but the team put together a masterclass of a performance in the second half, including a 40 point 4th quarter from the backup players. No major individual standouts in this game as many players achieved double digit scoring. The rebounding dominance was there along with an impressive 14 blocks for the team as a whole.

Not much else to say about this game, as there is not much to say about our last matchup of the group, Ecuador. Ecuador sit in last place in the group at 0-4, and haven't really been close in any game during this group. While their roster seem to have some decent pieces in the 10-20k salary range, they clearly cant put it together on the court, and their bigs seem to be partying a little too hard on Sunday nights with their abysmal gameshape. We look to close out the group with a strong performance headed into playoffs.

Go USA!

Ecuador straddles the equator, just like our balls are going to straddle their chins when we dunk all over them.

Defensive masterclass today from the team, only allowing 32 total points and holding our opponents to 9-80 (11%) shooting. Ecuador only ended up playing 5 players in the game, with one of them fouling out in the final minutes of the game so a Lucky Fan got some playing time. It seemed pretty clear that Ecuador was simply conceding their season so we cruised to an easy victory today.

That concludes the regular season, where we finish the second group 5-0 and complete the season on an 11-0 undefeated record! Playoffs is up next, with semis finals happening Friday night. We will be playing the 2 seed from the other group, which is Canada. Canada has a well rounded roster, with a solid group of bigs at the top followed by some good guard pieces. They went 5-1 in their first group, 3-2 in their current group losing to Argentina and Chile on less enth.

This semi final matchup has a qualification for worlds on the line, so we are going to come out with the fire and execute the gameplan. Lets win!

Worlds has been secured! Our number 1 goal for the season was to make it into Worlds competition and this victory does just that. The team put together a complete game today and pulled away with a convincing win over Canada. Defense was on point holding them to just 31% shooting from the field. Every player who touched the floor tonight had important contributions to win so good all around team performance. Our free throw shooting was very off today, however, and we will definitely be hitting the line in practice before the finals.

Speaking of the finals, we are up against Argentina. The 2 Americas powerhouses meet in the final as it was destined from the start of the season. They dismantled Brazil in their semi final matchup, after Brazil's interesting choice of outside isolation offense. Argentina has a complete roster, ranging from top quality bigs down to their complete group of guards. Gameplanning and practice for this game will be a fun one for sure.

We completed our first goal at securing Worlds, now lets go complete our next goal and get that gold trophy!

Go USA!

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!. Americas gold is ours in probably the ugliest game I have ever watched on BB. 30 minutes before the game all game shapes were reset, completely wiping away our advantage we had. Despite this hurdle we fought and fought well. In a completely dominant performance, the team held Argentina to only 52(!!!!) points. That is an unheard of number, and couldn't be more thrilled with how the team performed on defense. The offensive side of the ball was super ugly for both sides, but we were the better ugly.

MVP: Joseph Hobbs, without question. He led the team in scoring with 17 points and snagged a whopping 21 rebounds, making the Argentinian bigs look like ants. He was stellar on defense, being a heavy contributor to their starting bigs shooting a combined 4/18. He even hit a 3 on offense, the same amount as any of Argentina's guards despite them running an outside offense. A complete performance from Hobbs.

And that's it! That concludes my first season as coach with a 13-0 undefeated record and a gold trophy. Couldn't be happier with how the team played and thank you to all managers who contributed to the team this season. We have only just begun, as we will try to run back our success in Worlds competition next season.

Go USA!!
