I hope Whitewind doesn’t mind me starting this for him, but just wanted to say congratulations to him. He’s out in an absolute power of work over a very long time and I’m sure we’ll all benefit from what he brings to the job once again over the coming term. Commiserations to SpongeBONG (I hope I spelt that correctly) and good on you for having a proper crack at it - competition is healthy. I hope you land a gig again at National or junior national again in the future (preferably not my gig though 😉).
Also, how great is it to get 60 active players voting and ensuring the wishes of this great little community is being heard.
Here’s to a vibrant Aussie National and Junior National program continuing to grow!

I was Italy's coach and will be again in 2/4 seasons
I was just trying to help an underachieving nation ;)
But good luck, hopefully we'll meet in the WC next season

I dont think you have the knowledge of our team to comment on our achievements or under achievements, having no idea what our player builds are, or what our offsite forum input and preparation is like. We put in a lot of hard work that goes in behind the scenes to give our community the best chance for success. In all honesty, i believe you'd find it really difficult moving from the luxury of 1150 teams to scout from down to only 149 to choose from.

It's not that we didn't appreciate the desire to turn things around for us internationally, but we've reached a point in the community where no one fights an incumbent in the election unless that person either steps down or does something completely boneheaded. It causes less forum wars this way.

Thanks Deano for the kind introduction. I am close to finalising the team and will post the starting team shortly. In the meantime id like to give something back to the 53 managers that re elected me back for my 29th and 30th season, since from what i remember 53 managers (that's over 1/3 of Australia's managers voting) is the largest in Australia i've seen since playing, so there is an all time active interest which is great! So to try and further build interest in our u21 team i'm going to run a little competition...

The competition is to pick the top scoring player for the u21 season, and pick a total points for that player. The player that picks correctly and is closest to the points total for the season will get a 3 month supporter from me. (I'll give you a hint- if you are not sure how many points, you can check previous seasons totals on the u21 main page- some great history on there!) Just post below your player guess and points, edited posts are ineligible and one guess per manager. If there is a tie, first manager to post wins the supporter. Entry need to be done so its not unfair, but enough time that people can see it. Ill close it off before the start of the 2nd game (gives you 10 days to enter). Im happy for managers of any nation to join in, but the supporter prize is for the closest Australian manager since the aim is to build our Australian community interest, unless your an international manager and you've done time helping the Aussie NT teams out, in which case you have put in the hours for us and are eligible.

Id like to extend the competition to rebounds and assists too for those interested in adding in a guess for each of the stats, but only the point scoring will win the supporter, the other 2 stats are just for fun and interest.

Righto, pending any sudden injuries the 16 named would be the players starting in our season 56 team. Ive gone 16 players to take a few line ball players to watch extra closely in hope they can advance into the lineup. There are 2 spots available for anything that jumps out at me later in the season, but we have good depth in all 5 spots so wouldn't anticipate any adds in the first round at least. Tomorrows skill pops wont change this 16, and the 3 that have messed up their minutes this week are top tier players that will play a lot of games, and owned by reliable managers with proven gameshape records so im not worried.

Ill announce the season 56 team captain as tommyg18s Thomas MacQuaid, who has already played 9 u21 matches and 7 scrimmages, putting up some good numbers. Vice captain Quan Ho has experience too, and will distribute the ball from the point guard at times this season. He has been well trained by Neophonic, an experienced Aussie manager who has produced Youying in the recent times for u21s so knows his training.

This is a cool idea to run the competition.
I'll pick MacQuaid to be the leading scorer with 195 points.
I think MacQuaid will also lead the boards in a tight competition through his consistency, pulling down 123. I'm backing three guys to break the 100 mark this season.
Quan Ho is going to put up some old school assist numbers and break 60 for the first time in a few seasons, dishing out 62.

Nguyen taking an early lead with his point scoring.

But I find the easiest way to score is to be a Ho.

Quan Ho for 190 points.
