Just an example. There could be other combinations that don't work together.

The point is making sure the system knows what to do in the case someone does something weird.

Just because it's not a good idea doesn't mean someone won't try it.

How about another scenario: You set the same player for more than 1 slot (common for training) but you (perhaps accidentally) set different minutes settings on each slot... what does the sim do?

If I understand right: you put a player on the position of center as a starter, sub and a reserve, right? I see where you are aiming, but that player would get his 48 minutes (except if he gets tired and is sub for a "Lucky fan"). So it would be the same as it is now, because the player doesn't have any substitution player, that can sub him.

Let me just present you how + (plus), - (minus) and ? (neutral) would work:

1.) Starter: +
Sub: ?
Reserve: -

This set-up would work us current tie games. So, the starters would play around 38 minutes. The sub would play the "garbage minutes" and the reserve wouldn't play any minutes.

2.) Starter: +
Sub: -
Reserve: ?

In this case, the starter would play around 38 minutes, the sub and reserve would split the other minutes minutes.

3.) Starter: -
Sub: +
Reserve: ?

This is the case where the starter and the sub play around 20 minutes and the reserve under 5 minutes of playing time. So this is the current "blow off" games (you win for +20).

4.)Starter: -
Sub: ?
Reserve: +

They would play around 16 minutes (48:3=16).

5.) Starter: ?
Sub: +
Reserve: -

Sub and starter play around 24 minutes each.

6.) Starter: ?
Sub: -
Reserve: +

Reserve would play more than sub. Starter plays around 30 minutes.

These set-ups are just the bases. They can and will be adjusted. I was writing very fast so mistakes can occur. Share your thoughts and what can be adjusted to these settings. Maybe some settings aren't as good as they could be, but I think this could change and improve BB... a lot!

Regards

We wouldn't have to try all sorts of wacky, illogical things with minutes (and wouldn't have thread after thread complaining about minutes) if minutes and training weren't connected. It's a simple fix begging to happen, but they'll never do it.

What do you connect training to though? Just give it to them for free? That doesn't sound right either.

Minutes and training are connected in Hattrick Soccer as well but it doesn't suffer from the same problems because it has entirely different sub logic (typically players play the entire game anyway unless they get injured, red carded, or you specifically say to sub at x condition)

That is the usual response, and it is completely, absolutely 100% bogus. Pretty much every sport team management site uses training, nowhere is it free, and nowhere else except Hattrick is it so illogical.

If you want to defend training, get real.

Why don't you give some examples then? Instead of whine about how it doesn't work the way you want to and how "almost every other game" does it better, why don't you give an actual example? What game does it right? How do they do it?

You can't expect me to just magically believe it can be done better without providing any examples of it being done better. I'm not defending the system, I just don't honestly know how else they would do it other than tie it to actual playing time.

Let's start by saying Buzzerbeater is my favourite
and all things considered this really is the most bizarre way of training, but here goes:

Charazay
Trains every player once a week - two skill choices
Players train at a rate slowing down by age
Trainers have a rating for each skill

Powerplay
Players train every day
Essentially you have to train or buy the trainers as well as build the training facility
Players train at different speeds based on a quality number

Arena Hockey
Trains every day - More a player plays in the game faster trained
Players train at different speeds based on a quality number
also have to build up training facilities

Stay with me Headless T Gunner :)

I'm not complaining about the training sistem, I'm just suggesting new ideas, which would improve BB. Perpete, what do you think? Is it a bad or a good idea? Would you present my ideas to game developers?
