hey guys,

i am new here. i tried reading through the forums to find the answer to my question, but i couldn"t find one, so i am posting here.

i am in my first week. i understand from the game manual, that the effects of training will not show in the first week. i gather this is because my players by definition will not have enough minutes played for the training to be effective. so far so good.

the problem is that i do not know if i am doing everything correctly. i went to the training page, set stamina training for the team for the day before the game, this is registered in the training history. i won my game, whether having a team training was the correct approach is not the point here. then i realized, that i should have a passing training for my guards. i set it up accordingly, i pressed update training. this was several days agog and i still only have the team training in my training summary.

questions:
- are trainings taking place at all?
- how can i see the time for when trainings are scheduled?
- how can i see times when trainings took place?
- what am i doing wrong?
- what is the correct way to proceed - not tactically but in a very simple technical sense.

thank you very much in advance

click on game manual on the left hand menu (try to use long menu), under the "Navigation tab" click on weekly schedule
training takes place every week Nov 8 was the last update so the next one should be the 15th and every week thereafter, for stamina and free throw training you dont even have to play a single game

the long menu is easier to use, click on the word Training and set your training type - you need 48 minutes (cumulative) for each player to get full training in any given week!

Training takes place once each week on Friday's at approximately 4:00 AM server time (which is Eastern Standard Time).

A player will receive training if he gets minutes in your team's selected training regimen. So if you train passing for PG, only players who played minutes at PG will receive training. 48+ minutes constitutes full training.

There are two scheduled league games per week. Additionally, you can elect to schedule a scrimmage game which is very much recommended. So if you one-position train, a maximum of 3 players can receive full training. If you two-position train, a maximum of 6 players can receive full training. Team training fully trains each player regardless of minutes played, but is not recommended for new teams.

For example, if you have an 18-19 guard, you probably want to train guard-related skills such as Jump Shot, Pressure (Outside Defense), 1v1 Guards and Passing. If you were to have an 18-19 year old big (like Ed Renner (30645654)), you probably want to train inside skills like Inside Shot, Inside Defense, Rebounding and Shot Blocking.

If you need/want more help about training, feel free to BB-Mail me.

The players your team generates upon creation are rarely worth investing training on. It's especially true with team skills (stamina, free-throws, game shape) as there's no real tangible benefit to training these things on such easily replaceable players.

You can pretty much train any skills. 1-on-1, pressure, and passing are probably "best" for guards. Inside scoring, inside defence, and rebounding are probably "best" for big men. The best and most efficient salaried players often have high outside and inside skills.

It's probably ideal to acquire 2-3 solid trainees. I think nowadays you can get perfectly acceptable perennial allstar potential or higher 18 year olds for very cheap. As these players develop they can be key in helping you win and in addition are likely to greatly appreciate in value as you train them. At this point in the season you might be better off waiting to buy trainees until the draft at the end of the season. In the mean time, you can focus on arena expansions.
