In another thread this assertion was made: "a cost-effective trainer (level 4) is pretty affordable, even for lower-league teams and newbies. One of the newbies I'm helping in Spain (he's at Div. V at the moment) just got an advanced trainer yesterday, whose salary is under 13ks, for a 14ks transfer."

So I put in a bid on the next trainer coming along with a salary under $13k. He sold for $100k, not $14k.

So I put in a bid for the next one with no bid already on him. We'll see how that goes.

My suspicion is that an advanced trainer with salary under $13k going for $14k is an extreme outlier, and in no way typical. We'll see.

Homer, save your uncalled-for sarcasm and your outrage. I didn't say you said the example you gave is typical, I am trying to sample the market to see what is typical. I'm interested in seeing how the trainer market for advanced trainers in BB goes. We'll see. I'm not even saying an advanced trainer is or is not effective at the lower and middle levels -- that would be an entirely new thread.

I took a quick look at the trainer market just now. The next three advanced trainers are Marek Bóbr, salary $11,661, bid $50,000 … Elang Oliviera, salary $36,899, no bid … and Igor Jarzembski, salary $62,622, bid $1,000, specialty Fitness.

Well, that guy is already at $30k with five more hours to go, so he certainly isn’t going to come in at $14k or even $20k.

So … the next five advanced trainers are Teodoro Galeano, salary $13k, bid $76,600 … Enzo Salvo, no starting bid yet but salary $22.9k … Rafael Cantillano, salary $11.9k but bid already $107,200 (specialty: Fitness) … Holger Hammerstad, salary $24.2k … Jason Buil, salary $15.8k, bid $31k (Career Extension).

There is a guy with salary $12.7k and no bid yet, I’ll try him.

Keep in mind that training doesn't happen until Friday and that you'll pay the salary on Monday if you find a deal, so it'll definitely pay to be patient.

True enough. But so far no deals with the desired parameters have presented themselves, so it is tempting to disregard the day of the week if one should appear.

There will be a lot of variation. You missed three this afternoon who all had salaries below 13k who sold for $29k, $45k and $7k. The trainer who sold for $7k actually had the lowest salary - and was grabbed by a guy who had been in a bid war for the one who went for $45k. The bidding war on the one guy kept pushing the end time back and eventually overlapped with the third trainer. At that point, one of the guys made the jump over, while the other ended up losing out to a new bidder who came in with a bid that jumped to $45k from $30k.

The other thing to remember is that you can keep a advanced trainer for two seasons pretty easily, since the salary only goes up 1.75% per week. And if you are only replacing a trainer every 25-35 weeks, it can easily be worth it to spend $40k, $50k or more to get one with a low salary to start. Not a large sum of money even to a US DIV team.
