Injuries can last for the duration of the game, without the player missing extra time. I believe it's also possible he was ejected, which will show in dark red I believe.

In this case, he was injured at 5:04 in the 1st quarter, but since he wasn't injured after the game the injury only kept him out of this game. If you want to investigate these things yourself, just use the game viewer to see what happened.
