Schedules are now out. Congratulations to the surprise champions in season 28, Superfreakys (Kumiko Cup) and ragin stajans (Finals). Congratulations and welcome to the newly promoted teams too. We have 3 shiny new first-time Naismith participants and 1 less shiny former Naismith participant who came crawling back on his hands and knees, bloody and chaffed all over (allegedly). The promoted teams have quite a number of good-looking Canadian players, bringing some fresh Canadian blood into a season that might just turn into a highly competitive bloodbath.

If the new teams would like to introduce themselves, that'd be neat. If any team wants to list their seasonal aspirations or make predictions, that is also cool.

Canuckleheads (33431)
Team Dragon (24900)
Laval Giants (33804)
The Hounds (25054) (returning)

Thanks Stajan! And welcome to the new teams.

Personally I have no clue what this season holds for the Odyssey. I have one of the oddest rosters I have ever assembled, which currently only has one true big man (Worley). Not completely sure how it will work but with my main goal being training it should be doable.

Hopefully the right players land on the market and I can spend some of the copious amounts of cash I currently hold :)

Welcome all and good luck. I am almost finished a complete roster overhaul. Shooting for at least the playoffs but do not expect to go far. A quick glance and I think it could be another dogfight in our division.

I've seen the players you've been bidding on haha. Studs. Wish I could find the balls to start bidding 2-3m on individual players.

Not sure if it is balls or stupidity. I have been shocked at how many players that I grudgingly bid 2.3 mil or more on and still do not get a sniff.

Wow, that is a wicked huge bid. My guess is that if he was Canadian it would have been more. I have pretty much given up shooting for Canadian players, they are seldom well trained and they are always pricey.

Kaimakis is available for $1.99million. I don't know what the other player looked like, but Kaimakis has potential to be a second tier Canadian NT player. People talk about there being a premium on Canadians, but I'm not seeing it.

The issue in lots of cases is that managers want young players (18 or 19). Unfortunately the overextension tax makes the middle aged players less interesting and desirable. It is much more beneficial to train a player from 18 than it is to polish off the skills of a 23 to 25 year old trainee.

I thought about buying him back but simply don't have room for him to be trained properly.

He'll go for around that price. Has to. As for why a Canadian team hasn't picked him up, it's probably because almost all Naismith teams have better SF already. Honestly looks like a deep position. Other teams probably want draftees.

For every Kaimakis or Bradshaw, there's a Hall, Gaudreault, Worley, Laurent, Sammons that go for extreme prices. Second-tier guys like Demers and Maja too. Recent guys like Desillets (sp), sobuza, Owen, Hackett and Arsenault. Probably way more. Consistently high prices.
