I think it always best to avoid the 1st team seeded in the playoffs. You have a higher chance of beating the 2nd seed than the 1st. I think 3rd or 4th seed is the way to go not because of revenue , it more of ,you have a better chance to go to the next round.


this is ok, but now i lost in the first round and i also lost some money... i will lose more money next monday too...
i just bought a very expensive lottery ticket, and i didn't win...

You might have lost some extra money this week, but all consequent weeks you'll receive a little more money because you finished this season higher. The fans appreciate that, so you'll have a bit better attendance which brings more money the coming season.

If your just looking at the situation from a revenue standpoint, it can be better to finish 4th. Assuming you loose in the first round, both you and the 5th place team won't have to pay player salaries the following week. However, the previous week you would have to pay your full player salaries and the 5th place team would have to pay half their player salaries. During the first playoff week, the 5th place team will play no league games and make no money, but you will get at least 1 game and get half the gate receipts of the 1st place team. If the first place team's playoff arena revenue team is higher than your player salaries it is better to finish in 4th.
