Hi everybody,

would you rather have home court advantage for the first game of the playoffs or have an increase in enthusiasm?

Thanks

If you're trying to win it all and want to increase chances for promotion, I'd rather have high ENT than just HCA for the first game. That's not gonna help you further on, while ENT does. If you're just trying to get as far as possible, HCA could be a better option if your chances of advancing through the playoffs aren't great.

But if you're home in the first playoff game you're more likely to be able to PON. Whereas away you're going to need to crunch. Therefore for the likely away game next up, you then have more enth if you follow the scenario where you started the playoffs with less.

Well it also depends on what ENT advantage we're talking about. If the decision is wether or not to CT the last game of the season to get HCA, or TIE/normal with 8-10 ENT available, the difference is pretty big. If he just has ~5 ENT or the decision is wether or not to TIE instead of Normal, then the difference gets small and HCA might be more helpful.

True that, but if a playoff team contending for HCA gets to the last regular season game with 5 enth in DII, he's doing something very wrong.

If you start from about 150 bbstats and 9-10 Enthusiasm, crunching and playing home will get you 2-5 bbstats less than TIEing and playing on the road.

If the options are normal+HCA vs TIE+no HCA, then normalling+HCA is the superior choice. However, the difference between TIEing and normalling should be around 4-5 extra bbstats in defending and rebounding (assuming a 150 total), which means you should normal instead of TIE only if the game is close and you want to make sure you'll win it even if the opponent normals as well or guesses GDP right.

I was assuming that we were talking about a question of whether to normal or TIE the last game of the season. It would be easier to gain access to the game engine, and alter it to benefit your team, than it would to crunch the last game and still win in the playoffs in a competitive division.
