Past and future

It was a very long night, and a big alleviation. The 6th BBBL trophy was celebrated by the fans, the players and the staff as whether it was the first one. JP Gilmont: "It was so difficult during all the season. Each point, each basket was important as showing by the difference between Phoenix and us after 22 games! And the loss in the tournament finale, reached despite a difficult draw, was a difficult moment to overcome. That makes this title so beautiful."

And now, can we expect another championship win? JoeMaverick: "Of course we could continue on the same way, with the same team and so we would be the favourite team for a new BBBL trophy. But that's not what we want, and that our fans want. We want more! We want a real opportunity to win the B3. That's why we have traded Pupovac and Peng. With two more seasons of training they should be strong enough to help Mees in the paint. That should also be the time needed to have a NT level SF. And with the (good) sale of Le Quellec, we hope to make money this season. 5M to end the season would be nice. But that means we will have to be able to win a maximum of games despite a weaker starting five.

This season is a great opportunity for Arlon and Ventola who are, according me, the two best teams in Belgium. But be careful to Seatle who could become the stronger team before the end of the season, and so for the PO. Vottem? The best result would be a second place of conference, but the 3rd or 4th place is a more realistic goal. The first weeks will be decisive."
