Instead, there is an exponential decay of training speed that sets in when a player reaches the cap. It is faster than a third at first, and much slower than a third when a player is much higher than the cap.
This is a game changer! I have been digging into it for a long time but naturally I lack the amount of data that could either confirm or deny the general assumption that post-cap training penalty is constant.

I strongly suspected that it has a co-relation with how far the player is past his cap and now this, coming from your renowned keyboard, is all I needed. Thank you so much for this post!

Two questions:

1) Do you think the calculation base is the player's own potential or the max for his tier (i.e. 10.99 for HoFs)?

2) Could you shed some more light on the decay exponent?

Yep, too many factors to consider. Impossible to draw empiric conclusions from observing just one player. But the non-linearity confirmation is still a big thing to me, so once again - thank you so very much for sharing!

Interesting you mention gameshape, does it have any influence at all on training a player?
