Don't know about anyone else, but my draftees aren't quite as helpless as usual. Actually a ray of hope.

Actually, I was not impressed at all. The guy I got in the first round was a 5 star skill, 4 star potential guy rated A+. More like a B- in reality. Looking up and down the draft board, I didn't really see anyone very worthy. The one guy that looked great skill-wise had bench warmer potential. I just did a cursory look, though. I could easily have missed someone.

Mine sucked. Although, considering I spent 0 scouting points I guess I got my money's worth.

Yeah, it helps explain the deterioration of talent and ever rising cost of decent players on the TL. Less people are caring about drafting, and less people are actually training anyone. The prevalent form of training these days seems to be game shape for many managers.

It is certainly one of the factors.

I prefer to build through the draft, I just have a group of trainees on my roster right now and have no room to add more. Plus I am unlikely to have a high enough draft pick to make it worth spending a ton of draft points (109 on this team and 135 on my Utopia team).

So I'm saving them until it makes sense to spend them.

Yep, I do the same thing. I spent a few points this season hoping with the 6th or 7th pick I could get the guy I wanted, but scouted pretty soft, like 18 points spent, I think. I got lucky with the tall A+ 5 star 4 pot guy, but he really turned out to be meh. I usually save for a couple seasons the scout hard for a premium guy. They should pepper in a few more decent draftees. People might be more motivated to train. Or as I have suggested in the forums to mixed reviews, they should increase the number of decent trainers thus driving the cost down. If you have to spend a bundle on scouting and a huge bundle on a decent salary lvl 5 trainer that's going to cost you half a mil if you are patient and lucky.......every few seasons. All while trying to stay competitive enough to linger around until training starts paying off.

My draft in D2 last season was loaded with talent. There were 4 - 5/5s, two of them well balanced and two who had holes, but nothing too bad. One of the 5/5s was 19, but was also 7’0 and like likely had 60 TSP. Talent is out there. In the second round I landed a guy who was a 19yo 5/3, the guy came in at 64 TSP. Now if I didn’t have an NT player, a potential U21/NT player and two middle aged role players on my team who is love to get a little more skill, I’d be focusing all my training on this dude. Guess I’m trying to say is there is talent out there, it takes a little luck, a little strategy and a little patience and you can find some players.

And Heathcote, I agree on the L5 trainers, I’ve got one and it took weeks to get one at an “affordable” amount. For the salary I was looking for, some we going for $1.5M (think I got mine at $600k, fairly low salary). Not looking forward to entering that market again.

And good luck to everyone. I’m honestly hoping this visit to D3 is a quick one. I lost my first four games last year and decided to sell everyone but a couple players and focus on out of position training. I think it paid off, my team is likely better now than it was one season ago, but I am a little worried about my economy. We’ll see how it plays out.

Yeah, I have seen much better draft classes in the past. However, if you look at the recent draft from this league, It looked like a whole bunch of mediocre at best players. Perhaps I missed someone, but it looked like a bunch of hot garbage imo.
