JA keeps Bahamas on their heels, 76-99
#76 Jamaica gets the win over #87 Bahamas in Monday Night's matchup (29275).

TIE vs. Normal Effort. We had a more effective overall game, coming away with the win. This moves us into the #4 spot in our pool. We'll need to retain that position in order to make the next round of the Americas Tournament.

Our world ranking advanced two positions to #74. Tune in next Monday @ 3pm PST for breakdowns during the test against #77 Ecuador.

Ecuador bullied inside, JA cruises to 84-73 CT win
#74 Jamaica squared off with #77 Ecuador in a must win game for both teams vying for the second round of the Americas tournament.

Jamaica came out strong and went into the break trailing after a monster 2nd quarter by Ecuador. In the CT vs. Normal Effort, Jamaica dominated the boards and kept pressure in the paint which led to 2 foul outs for Ecuador.

With the win, Jamaica maintains the #4 poll position and improves to 2-1 with +18 PD. Ecuador drops to 0-4 in tournament play and looks to be out of contention for the next round.

Next up for the JA21 is #33 Argentina. Next Monday @ 3pm PST.

S28 Americas Update

Our ranking shot up quite a bit with the win over Ecuador. In my estimation, eventhough we were ranked higher than them, the win goes in the upset category because they had 2 players brandishing 14+ ratings. JA21 now sits at #68 in the world, the schedule shifts to completely uphill now: #33 Argentina, #35 Canada, and #41 Venezuela.

We'll need Costa Rica to lose one of their two remaining games against Bahamas and Ecuador. We have more wins and are sitting on about 100 PD advantage. The only real shot I see is that Ecuador pulls off the shocker in the last game of the round. They pull a W then it would be decided by PD whether we make the next round. If Costa Rica wins both then they take the #4 spot outright and advance to the elimination round.

Host #33 Argentina overwhelms Jamaica, 64-118
#69 Jamaica met with #33 Argentina.

They had HCA to go with a very strong roster. We were overmatched at every position. O'Sullivan went down after only 17 mins. Argentina is likely the top seed coming out of our pool. We had no foulouts. Mutual TIE so we get the ENT increase for next week's game.

With #85 Costa Rica's win over Bahamas, we are tied at 2 wins each with them for the final advancing spot. JA21 maintains the #4 position by 65 PD. CR finishes out their season against #75 Ecuador, next week. We'll need Ecuador to win and maintain our current PD lead to make the next round.

Next Opponent: #36 Canada
When: Monday @ 3pm PST

@windies - Thanks for the dap! We got that luck, bro.

@JA21 Team - We got a major break this week when #36 Canada forfeited the match with us. Ecuador edged Costa Rica 100-93, so that put us up to 3 wins. That combined with the forfeit penalty which gives up PD consideration in the seedings, propelled us to #3 in Pool A over Canada, who also have 3 wins.

I didn't make any contact or look into what's going on with Canada. If they forfeit again next week, we stay in 3rd if we win or lose. Either way we're in.

We've also made a milestone in reaching #62 in the world rankings, a team best. We're 1 win away from tying last season's record 4 victories. In the second round we will be one of the lower ranked teams. That means our first match will be against one of the higher ranked squads.

Should be exciting, we'll see what unfolds in this final week of pool play before the elimination tournament begins. Great job, team!

Also, I'd like to welcome Khadiie of Dazzlers (209159): the only live manager in Jamaica's D2.
