Almost mid-way though the season. figure I will do a write-up on all the teams (based on rankings), but it will be slow going...

1) Liberty and Power (10-0): With their Turkish super-star tandem holding the team together at SG and C, throw in the veteran backcourt (PG, SG and 6th man PG), the power SF, the veteran back-up PF, and the young up-and-coming backup PF. This team has built itself very well with complementary experience-levels and skill-sets, and their 10-0 record speaks for itself. With the veteran core aging, this season is the time to win, though with 2 outstanding big men at only 23 and 28, Liberty and Power maintains the flexibility to also reconstruct the franchise should they want to. So much better to do this while tanking in the NBBA and keeping all the profit though - will Liberty and Power be able to borrow a page from the previous year's champions - the Black Mambas? Liberty and Power burned up some enthusiasm for a much need win against Fern Creek Clerics - upcoming games against EDH Wolves and Postal will help to provide further clarity to their odds of success.

2) Postal (10-2): Postal was built probably the way the BB's envision how teams should be evolved. Originally a perimeter-team with 4 outstanding combo-guards/SFs and 2 terrific rotation SFs, Postal sold a key SG in 12/2011 and acquired 2 unique big-men in April 2012, and the rest is history. With Liang (assist machine, jump-shooting big with good range) and Masera (rebound and put-back machine) to shore up the front-court, Postal's original bigs moved to form impressive backups, and their motion offense took a new level, as both new bigs meshed very well with the original 3-headed monster out on the perimeter. With all the core players nearing and past their 30s, is this the season for Postal to raise the DII.1 championship? If not, they can always rebuild around the mercurial 27-year old Liang Tingfa, and in any case, this is a team that should not be counted as out of playoff contention for seasons to come.

3) Oakland Soldiers (10-2): OAK's young and talented starting backcourt of homegrown PG Damien Queen and US-mate PG Skip Langford adds passing and defense to a potent offensive/defensive rotation of 4 veteran big men at the front-court and pivot positions. With mecurial PF Pablo currently doing an outstanding job of manning the starting SF position, OAK may be 1 true-SF acquisition away from contending for it all this season. Recent OT win against Postal, even with Skip Langford out, must have team manager Slightly Hyphy at least willing to begin contemplating for gold. But if not, OAK has designed their team with flexibility to wait. Their starting backcourt and 2 rotational guards are only 26-27 years old and here to stay for a long time, while all big men can easily make way for younger blood.
