I can understand the vision of Deano25 but once the season will be started, I'm sure we'll be glad that it is meticulously organised so thank you for the hard work you produced Wagner ! Furthermore, maybe the "standards" you are creating for the league can be a part of the fun we'll have playing in it. It makes it more official.

I'm very glad to hear some managers share my views on positive sides of creating and retaining some standards to HGL - I completely share that view with you, and I also totally agree that it can add to the fun aspect of it, as for me also it makes HGL feel more like "the real thing". Often times in life, the more you put into something, the more you can get in return.

As some might have already noticed, I have finalized a rule/penalties set for Season 1 of HGL, which consists of 4 posts; this one (326589.7) and 3 following posts (all titled "Additional rules and penalties for violations").

Please don't be intimidated by the word count, it is mainly due to conversatory nature of my writing style and actually introduces only few penalty levels. Also, as you can see, post 3/4 will not apply hardly any (or any) of us during Season 1, but it might be very useful information especially for new managers with small rosters considering joining HGL in the future.

I have also updated Top8 salaries and teams receiving salary benefit-information to this post: (326589.4). Thanks again MrJ for providing us that top8 salary data!

@all HGL participating managers - countdown is at 2 days currently! I hope we can get everything finalized before that, that's mentioned in this post: (326589.68).

I've just made my first lineup for the HGL (weird name...), and my opponent's 2 best players have the same salary as my entire team (glups).

Like in Game of Throne, I would say "Hodor", but I'm not sure it will be enough to win...

Let's keep discussion alive on this thread - like I've said, for me this is going to be mentally my "premier", most important league in Buzzerbeater from now on, and I'm very much looking forward to playing against (or rather, with) you guys!

That's a good point! I was actually thinking that in addition to Top8 salaries (that MrJ already counted for us) it would be interesting to add as a comparison Top2 or Top3 salaries, as it would show us how sharp of an edge team has (in a form of best players) and would allow dramatic and interesting comparisons to be made easily.
Let's see if I have time to do that later, or calculate average age for Top 8 players/team, which would also be interesting data!

Well, at least this earned you (and BigChill) a HGL Special good spirit prize, as can be read from Announcements-post ;D

We could create an award for the best team regarding to its payroll.
(entire payroll or top8, I don't know).

Examples : you are total payroll #3, and you end with a league ranking #6 -> you won't win the award !
you are a total payroll #14, and you end at 7th rank -> you could win the award.

Sometimes having very high salary top-2 isn’t that much of an advantage. In my case I primarily train players for our National team, so often have a kind of unbalanced team despite having a very high salary team
Overall (National team big players tend to have HUGE salaries).
From what I’ve seen teams with their number 6-8 players not that far below their 1-5 tend to compete very well at league level and you can’t do that if your number 1 guy is $250k.
