"Disaster of a Season"

Even with playing at full intensity against a laid back Taiwan squad Team Pilipinas still lost its game last night 105 to 95. Fans took to social media to air their grievances on how the NT squad was handled this season. This is the worst performance the NT team has done in quite awhile.

"I failed." was the first words Lolo Smithz said in a post game interview. "I wasn't aiming to win but still I can't believe we would do this badly. After winning the first game against Hong Kong in the 2nd round and seeing the other bracket there was a big chance of landing a silver place finish but things went awry and downhill from that point on. Malaysia was a super winnable game but we lost that even the Malaysian coach was surprised as he said we were jinx. An anomaly happened."

"Maybe its time to hand over the National team duties to the new generation of team managers. Oldies like me are getting nowhere nowadays. Again to everyone I am sorry to have disappointed a lot of you in my handling of National Team this season."

A large group of fans were preparing a bonfire outside the stadium in preparation to burn Lolo Smithz alive.

Dont forget the random factor sa game engine. When I lost to Gwapsak sa cup a few seasons ago I was leading all three quarters until my players forgot how to play basketball (lol). It happens to the best managers no one is pointing fingers. Just got eliminated sa playoffs by Team Initiative who I just beat last week by 20 pts. We need more weapons in the NT. You dont have all the tools to begin with. We will get them next time.

Tama si boss Obi, may next time pa naman tayo. At alam naman ng marami na dito na you did a better job from off the court para sa NT, ako personally yun ang reason ko bakit ako nag-support sayo lo, alam ko kasi ung gagawin mo sa NT is way more than just the strategy and tactic setting sa games.

both you & coach morwood are doing a great job. keep it up!

Maybe Lolo Smithz is correct in saying the newer generation of managers should start taking up the cudgels of the NT/U21 team. Looking at the PPL and the cup winner most are newer managers rather than the entrenched old veterans that have tons of cash. Will someone from the current and ex cup and PPL winners rise to the challenge?

BTW Lolo Smithz is my mentor so Im not trying to put him down.

After the luxury tax rule, PPL teams are not making as much money as those in division 2 and 3. Some of us go into the negative to be truly competitive. It is easy to make 300 k per week in the PPL so long as you are ok with being in division 2 for the next season. Not every season is a profit for us it depends kung ano yung goals mo. I think Morwood is ok with U21. Would like to see him run again for another term. Anyone can run for NT coach - last time i checked Lolo has one more season to go, it is up to him to make the most out of it. All we can do is continue supporting him.

I think what Black Widow was trying to say is teams like yours Ash which have been in PPL for a very short period are winning against the old veteran teams who have been in PPL for a long time already. I remembered Coach Ivan won the cup in his first season in PPL. With fewer resources than older teams who have tons of cash stashed away the newer generation of winning teams are doing quite well in PPL. Which already says something about your managing skills and knowledge of the game.

I was talking to Morwood the other day and we agreed it just takes someone dedicated enough to run the NT/U21 to make it successful in the long run. Someone who knows how to teach others to train players. We were talking about how the Indonesion NT/U21 which are being run by Italians are now doing pretty well and are powerhouses in Asia nowadays. And the one handling it used to be a league 4/5 manager only.

We should not under estimate the lower league manager.
One thing that advantage on them is tge dedication and active because they are passionate.
