Season 23 Preview - Winless Tournament?

Singapore U21 is on the brink of worst season ever, repeating the same result on Season 15, where Merlions didn't even get a single win on Consolation Tournament.

Even though Singapore still have Captain Yip this season, it won't help much. As on Season 15, Huo Xiang Song was with U21 team, yet are still winless. Other players (Fan Pingwai, Tan Wei Shi & Chu Jing Chu) are still young and inexperience.

The first two game of Season 23 strengthen the bold sign of the sinking ship, and will be hard to bear.

Young Merlions getting schooled by European touch, bow to Israel 84-109.

Pretty much enough demoralization for Merlions after learned that they are facing a superstar European U21 team, but it was their Slasher that kill Merlion's night at Jerusalem.

Dan Zeytuni scored 22 pts, outplayed Deng Jin Yau to prevail Israel for their 1st win 109-84. Israel were trampling Singapore U21 without mercy, leading 62-38 going to the halftime, and put the damage enough for Singapore to not being able to recover.

Deng Jin Yau, Mahatir & Chau Kang Chun each scored 14 for Merlions. Tan Wei Shi, understudy of last season Long Minfa, has 12 assists to go with 8 points.

Singapore next game will be facing another European Giant Ukraina at Singapore homecourt.

Singapore took a break against Vietnam to Cruise for easy win 108-58

Deng Jin Yau scored 20pts, and Qayum bin Ismail has 18pts and 9assists as Singapore broke through the 2nd half with lots of fierce drive-ins, resulted many unanswered points against shorthanded Vietnam, closed out the game with 108-58. Vietnam were left empty without their Coach, playing with no direction at all.

Bien Chu led Vietnam with 22pts and 16rebs.

Singapore responded tough loss with blowout over Dominicana Republic 88-66

After manager Ben vent out frustation and questioned the kids work ethic on their last week loss to Colombia, they are now back to normal.

Deng Jin Yao and Yip Su Yeng start the engine early to bring up a 24-10 lead. Then Chau Kang Chun made sure the lead are not less than 20. Pretty much Merlion style, but that's all they can do even if with their mediocre talents.

Yip and Chau led the balance attack with 14 pts, while Deng and Ahmad chipped 12 pts. Keenan bin Suutin pulled down 12 rebs. The 19yo Keenan was pulled into the roster last minutely by manager Ben, after dissapointed with the frontline performance.

Singapore will host Al-Maghrib on next week.
