This will be an interesting season. Just hoping that your kitties get promoted so I don't have to deal with them any more. :)

A preview of the Big 8 conference title game in a couple of months - a nationally televised prime time matchup between Gomaret and Fiercekitties. I give the edge to the Kitties, being at home and having been knocked out of the Cup, they only have the league to play for now.

But Gomaret may get their revenge in the final game of the regular season - another nationally televised match-up between the two rivals - to set the stage for their playoff battles.

Yeah, it should be a good one. You guys have been playing well, so it'll be tough. I have a feeling my cup run's going to be coming to an end soon though - next round is against a Div. II team that's apparently in the top 10 in the US. So that'll almost certainly be a loss.

Good luck on Saturday - not too good though. :)

Well, your guys got the best of me tonight! Thought I should have played CT, but couldn't pull myself to do it.

Seriously though, you have a good team again this year. Should be a competitive conference race again this time around.

My guys being at home gave me a few points, plus I went CT which gave me a few more points, and thus the margin of victory. For the rematch, you will be home, and if you CT,I say you will take that match. Plus, I don't see your guys going 1-18 from 3-pt land again - that certainly didn't help your team.

With you taking the rematch, that means the playoffs will decide it all . . .

That was a ballsy move to CT him. I can't remember the last time I have CT'ed someone, but that is also why I am out of the cup.

As we head in to the last part of the season, when conference play is about to resume, the Great 8 conference remains close with Kauno, Lazy, and Chicago all right there - battling it out for the top slot in the playoff rankings.

With the regular season winding down, one last match, time to look to the playoffs-a the seedings are set.

In the Big 8, kitties v. Minn and Gom v. Winners (for the right to play kitties in the conference finals)

In the Great 8, Condors are in as the #4 seed, as Tigers cannot make up a 100 pt dif in just one game. Chicago will be the # see, even if they lose to Lazy, as Lazy also cannot make up the 100 pt diff tie-breaker in just one game. Kaunas should win the Great 8 regardless.

Fiercekitties end up winning the league title and promoting back up to D. 3.

Good luck to everyone in IV.9, and perhaps we will run into each other in future cup matches or in other leagues down the road.

My team was in D.3 for several years - but other teams had significantly upgraded their players in a push for the league title. I had little cash on hand and my main big men trainees were ready to be sold, meaning my two new starting big men would be a step backwards, in terms of player ratings and skills. Time to step back and retool the team.

I got demoted, and spent two seasons retooling, plus training up my 6 new big men trainees. Had a great record last season, but got upset in the play-offs. While annoying, it was for the best as my team was not yet ready for D. 3 at the end of last season.

Upgraded my back court with a good new SF and moved a good starter to the 6th man/super sub role. Still have $3M in the bank to upgrade another player if necessary. My trainees are coming along in their skills (did mostly secondary skills last season, while more primary skills this season). The next couple of seasons will be all primary skills training for them. My oldest two trainees are not at D.3 starter level yet, but should be competitive enough, especially in the 2nd half of next season, as they get trained up further for a least two more seasons. Each trainee should be worth several million when they are trained up and I sell them off. Will then reinvest that money into the team. I have my trainees staggered in terms of their ages, so I can sell off one or two each year, replacing each player in the line-up with the guy behind him.

For next season, I predict my team should finish in the playoff relegation area (5th-7th) of the D.3 league - perhaps as high as 4th, if I get lucky. I just need to do enough to stay in that league, survive the playoffs, and then I can start climbing the league table over the next few seasons.

I offer this information as advice to other league members trying to train up their teams for the IV.9 title.
Again, good luck to all and hope to have some further matches against your team in seasons to come.
