In a man-to-man defense, you should certainly find that your outside shooters defend your opponent's outside shooters (hence, Outside Defense is important for your guards in particular). Do you have a better system in mind?

As for the matchup ratings, there are a few threads already that do a very good job of explaining why your team does or does not win. When you say matchup ratings, do you mean the bars that show Points Per 100 Shots? If you're going by that, it just means that your team typically got more points per possession... if the other team had more possessions, they will end up with more points.

I would advise you to read up on some of the other threads about matchup ratings and offensive flow -- it will be able to help you much more than anything I can say briefly here.

Cheers!

Hi Ehud,

It would take me forever to make sure I understand all of that correctly in Hebrew :-)

Can you summarize the main points for me so I can reply to them here?

Thanks!

(I'm sure there was something in that big flame war that I could probably respond to -- but I may have missed it on a first reading... can someone post a thread here with a question or two to me (preferably in English) if there is something I can help with?
Thanks!)

The whole argument above deals with the legitimacy of TIE agreements.
Ehud wanted the BBer's view about the subject, and it led to a lot of responses from everybody else (including my self...).

Mark

The thread I wanted you to read was about - Mutual TIE.

I know it legal to set up a TIE game with one of your leauge friends.

My opinion is that its pretty much taking advantage of the systems rules. and that it creates an unfair balance between players that know other players in the leauge and players that dont.

I don't see it as a feature or some kind of brillient tactic like other players do.

I think it makes the game unnatural.

I know that there is no way to enforce it (in case it was ilegal), Therefor I suggested to rethink about the TIE feature. (like you did in the playoff)

Any way, I wanted to know what do you think of this issue??

P.S - I know its not going to change anytime soon or even at all, so I am going to adopt the phrase - If you can't beat them, join them...

So what do you suggest we should do?? Ignore it and let other teams (that might be less good) to beat me??

By the way, I would appriciate your support in the Israeli forum - "חוקים אפורים"

Do you have a better system in mind?

I'm not saying that my center should guard the other SG because he's the best outside defender, but if my PG's OD is better than my SG's he can guard the other team's SG if he's more "dangerous" than the PG...
Same for the C and PF...
Nevertheless, when I write this lines down it causes me to think that it might be a bit more complicated than that...

About the matchups ratings - what causes an advantage of possesions apart from forcing TO's and getting more ORs?
