Perhaps another question which you seem qualified to answer from a data and experience standpoint. Is the gym worth it? I have struggled to understand from a data/impact standpoint, exactly what it is that the gym will do (perhaps because of relatively little experience). I intend to train players with potential for U21 participation and have not been able to decide if the gym would impact them enough in their first 4 years (seasons aged 18 through 21) for me to see a difference in skills gained by the time they would be useful for U21. Is it a noticeable difference in this relatively short term? Or is is better suited for longer term plans pertaining to multi-skilled players who are trained for much longer?

Cheers!

Thank you for the assessment and advice! Cross training and the gym seem to me to be the most complex part of training in BB and any guidance on their function and utility is handy in guiding my decisions. It seems that my worries about the gym's usefulness in the shortened u21 training schedule are somewhat valid with considerations of sublevels etc. Thank you for outlining a bit more clearly the functions and uses of the gym, lots of food for thought and information as I make decisions about costs and spending.

Cheers!
