I accidentally bought a player that seems to be really nasty, in term of play. With a 3,2 foul average in the season, I'm pretty sure I made a terrible investment. Do fouls have anything to do with the team level or it is just a default characteristic of a player?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

It is not simple to answer your ask.
I have two player that first seasons of their career get too fouls trouble.
So i trained both defense to try to limit this aggressivity but the result is not enough good...

First player carrer stats (http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/46367394/careerstats.a...)

Second player career stats (http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/46367350/careerstats.a...)
Only second player this season, for first time, get less than 2 fouls for a game.

I think that there is a hidden attitude to get fouls, as the attitude of game shape and the speed drop skills.

It is indeed complicated to predict a player's foul attitude in the upcoming seasons. I thought that Shot Blocking could have something to do with it, but the theory immediately proved to be wrong (other player's cases). Your second player improved, but that foul tendency doesn't go away so easily.

I'm probably looking for a light of hope here, as I don't want to sell this player right away and lose money. I had the choice between him and his teammate, who was way less agressive (1.9 foul average in the season). I got confused and raised the bet to the wrong player and then spend three minutes praying that someone would come and get the player out of my back. The worst part is that I had the teammate in my list since the day he was put on sale.

I'm going to try the player on Thursday and see how it goes. I'll still be hoping for some releaving example in which a player calmed down after some seasons.

Fouls per game. That's the first stat i watch when scouting a player. You will want players with less than 1 foul per 10 minutes played.

That's not reassuring at all. As drastic as the decision might be, I think it's the only course of action. I will see how he does today (he's debuting in half an hour), but given his foul tendency with his previous team, hope is little. Since he won't play any key role in my team in the near future, as he was bought mainly to train, I may wait some weeks to sell him, at least till he gets expensive enough to compensate the investment. But it's truly a shame, as I said before, I was meaning to buy his teammate and I got confused when bidding.

Thanks for your comment.

That's exactly what I look for. If you check my team, you'll notice my players are as calm as puppies. No more than 2 fouls per game, except for one pivot (average of 3 fouls per game). As I said, I bid on this player while thinking it was his teammate (I was distracted). They both had the same skills, but foul average changes everything.

fouling players aren't necessarily a bad thing, my guy picked up 4 quick fouls in the 1st quarter in the finals game yesterday and on the 4th he injured their player. He didn't get another the rest of the game and I came back from 15 down to win by 20.

There's a bright side then. We'll see how many players this one sends to the hospital during the weeks he'll play for my team. If he helps us perform a comeback like yours, I'll keep him.
