The BEST basketball movie is not even on this list....I'm talking about that Julius Erving 70's classic the fish that saved pittsburgh
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wre9bkg9MxwActually there is one you did not list that was a absolute classic, One on One
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkqjjHDEt_w, between this and North Dallas Forty G.D. Spradlin was established as the all time prick coach figure....
another from back in the day which I think could be rebooted is Gabe Kaplan's Fast Break
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFITaQSXxP0of the one on the list I have seen
Space Jam: Good kids movie, its fine for what it is.
He Got Game: Saw it in the theater when it came out, haven't since, Denzel is nails as always, but it didn't ring overall a emotional resonance with me.
Hoosiers: a slice of Americana that encapsulates why the game is truly so special in that state. Gene Hackman is brilliant, Barbara Hersey does a nice job as the love interest. But it is Dennis Hopper who stole the show,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU0BebHh5LYAbove the rim: I probably should watch this again, I was WORKING at a movie theater when this came out and on nights I would close when this would play I would make sure to sneak in to watch the final scenes. pretty good flick
White Men Cant Jump: the best basketball comedy ever made, Woody Harrelson (who by the way is shooting LBJ right now) is awesome, Wesley Snipes is charming and matches his performance in Major League and Rosie Perez is a delight.
This movie however I will also associate with
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3_IT622Sbc as WMCJ opened the weekend of this game, the theater I was working in was broken up into two buildings, the smaller of which had a lounge upstairs where you could get a beer and watch TV before you went into your movie. We were one of only 2 places in town showing this so business was very strong, and with the game being on all kinds of people were cramming upstairs to watch before their respective movies were going in. I was working downstairs, but we had a transistor going. UK hits the shot to go up 1 with 2.1 to go and a huge group of UK fans come out of the bar upstairs just whooping it up and head on over to the other building to since the movie was about to start, and the projectionist was not going to delay matters, especially since he was a Carolina fan (like yours truly) but they figured they had it won, I was hoping they had it won (and I hate UK ALMOST as much as Dook) but I knew better, just something in my bones. The shot gets made, you hear this primordial roar from upstairs, and the bartender comes storming down the steps bursting out the door to let the UK fans know what happened since they were giving his Dook loving ass ungodly grief all night.
Blue chips: Nick Nolte is a little extra amp'd for this one, seem to remember some nice cameos but Shaq is just painful to watch, though compared to that genie movie a few years later this is practically Citizen Kane.
