With the new season of American Qualifying getting ready to kick off next Monday, I've made some cut-downs on our tracking lists, and have whittled the roster pool to a mere 108, age 22+ players. A lot of these guys are still being tracked in hopes that they progress in the future, or for their potential as specialty players that we may need at some point, but without a real high likelihood of making significant contributions in this cycle.
With that in mind, here's a "shortlist" of 54 players under consideration for this year's roster. I'm including age and salary, and breaking it down into three groups:
- guards (both PG and SG, although they also have a chance to contribute at SF in some situations),
- forwards (SF and swing-PF types)
- centers (both pure centers, and guys that could play PF in a "2-bigs" set)

By the end of the season, we'll be carrying 18 players, which is about 1/3 of this group. I've left more of the younger players on the lists, since although they're further from contributing, some will hopefully continue to be trained. I should stress that this does *not* represent the top salaries at each of these positions; it's a combination of skill distributions, how those skills fit our needs, the ability of second tier players to contribute in specific situations, age/potential/training, and a number of other factors.
I'll be posting an initial roster, likely consisting of only 8-10 players, on the off-site forum before things get underway with our game vs Guatemala on Monday. As a reminder, take a look at this thread
