Training Camp Begins

(TORONTO) Newly elected National Team coach Chris902 announced the opening of the season 13 training camp today in Toronto. The camp began in the sweltering Ontario heat today at 9am. As part of a new emphasis on a tougher, more physical game chris902 elected to hold the camp outdoors on a rotating series of playgrounds in the Jane and Finch area. Temperatures climbed to as high as 42 degrees on the humidex.

The camp roster includes a number of veterans like Paul Wendon and Jerome Faure, but also features a number of young stars including two former players from Canada's record setting u21 team, Christopher Moran and Sylvain Milot. "Moran is one of the best Canadian players ever and is likely a shoe-in for the team," chris902 explained, "Sylvain has endless potential but was really invited to give him some experience and see where he stacks up. He's still at least a season away from making his debut with the team."

According to Chris902 the plan is to take 8-10 core players to start the season and call up additional players as need be in the future. "Our top nine players are pretty clear, but my staff and myself will have a tough time filling in the role players and back ups. We will be meeting tonight to make some decisions and we'll make our decision public as soon as we've set things in stone," the national team manager said.

Notes:
- The Canadian Basketball Association has indicated that various club coaches will have access to a more detailed breakdown of the team on the off-site forum. (http://bbcanada.forumotion.com/forum.htm)
- In a bizarre story there have been rumours that CSIS has been contacted about a potential espionage case involving the Canadian national team. Neither CSIS nor national team officials would comment but a source close to the team suggests that it may be connected to the Russian spy ring recently uncovered by American officials.
- The NT opens its season on July 12 against Jamaica.
