OMAHA - Racers owner Jerry Midwest has apparently offended all three members of his most recent draft class with a recent Twitter tweet
http://twitter.com/GarySJNE about their perceived lack of ability.
Draft choices Jamie Fenton, Marco Antonio Carrera, and Claude Dumas were described as "can miss from anywhere", "mediocre at everything", and "18 and balding", respectively.
"The comments were taken out of their 140-character context," said Midwest.
"The comment about Fenton acknowledges his great shooting range, and is an honest assessment that he needs to improve his jump shooting, which is no secret around the organization."
"As for Carrera, being mediocre at everything makes for a pretty good player in our league. This is Division IV. We've got scouting reports that describe players as 'inept', 'awful', 'pitiful', 'atrocious', 'incompetent', 'craptacular', 'auggggggh!', and 'Dear God make it stop'."
While these comments mollified Fenton and Carrera -- especially Carrera, who beat out veteran Ofir "Shak" Shakrooka for minutes off the bench in tonight's season opener against Fastbeats -- first round pick Claude Dumas still has animosity towards Jerry Midwest over the tweet.
"I ain't bald, man," said Dumas. "Coach just ain't with it."
Midwest replied, "Have you seen that man's hairstyle? It's a combination of a mohawk and a mullet. I call it a mull-hawk. He looks like he shaved his head and stapled a weasel to it."
For those of you who haven't seen Dumas' 'do, here's a photo from the Racers' media guide:
