Kurizo Hoopers extend winning streak to three, defeats Mountaineers 81-60.

Kurizo Arena, Philippines -- It was a matchup both teams are looking for. The Cresta Verde Mountaineers hoping to end their two-game losing streak while the Kurizo Hoopers looking to extend their two-game winning streak.

It was a relatively low-scoring affair as both teams exchanged baskets in the 1st half scoring 36-all. Same goes in the third quarter with Hoopers scoring two more points leading 57-55 entering the fourth. However, it was a different story as the Mountaineers were shut down only scoring 5 compared to Hoopers 24 en route to the latters convincing 81-60 victory.

"Speechless," that was the first word uttered by Mountaineers GM Nicolo. "we have to evaluate everything we're doing because of this loss."

The general mood within the organization is normal but some pundits took note that the departure of Conyo affected their performance. Some are questioning Benigno Besa's capability to lead this team as he is the de-facto franchise player of the team.

All five starters of Hoopers scored in double figures led by Martin Cabugwason with 20 points. Three of them had a double-double with Riccardo Varotto having a monster performance with 18 points and 23 rebounds. June Soguilon anchored their defense with 10 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks while Frederick Rosales paced them with 11 points and 10 assists.

"We want to win this for our crowd, for the national audience and not to mention, we just want to beat them!" Rosales said.

Fillmore Sabangan led the Mountaineers with 13 points while Benigno Besa had 10 points and 17 rebounds in what is considered a listless performance overall by the team.

"Pundits may talk but our confidence as a team will never be low." Besa said.

It has been repeatedly said that the Mountaineers have a sky-high payroll that rumor has it that if their performance doesn't improve, we will most likely see changes - even major - in the season.

The Mountaineers are looking forward to end their skid against the BluE HorsE BeeR while the Hoopers looks to taint AS SupaStah's 5-0 record to start the season.

Player of the game: Riccardo Varotto - 18 points and 23 rebounds.
X-factor: June Soguilon - 10 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks.

Notes: Mountaineers owner Yo Chi is getting impatient, said 'I didn't expect to start the season 2-3 (W/L)'.
