Game 8: vs Denmark - LOSS: 107 - 83

We gave Denmark everything we had, including a correct GDP guess and a CT. Although we lost the game, I'm proud of the boys because we only lost by 24 points to a top 30 worldwide team indicating that our program is on the rise.

MVPs:
1. Josh Cockayne
2. Neerim Larbi
3. George Jabano

Next Game:
vs TBC soon.

This brings us to the end of the competitive season. We will still have a number of scrimmages left to play, where you will see plenty of young and fresh faces hitting the floor for their nation. You already saw one tonight - George Jabano who played exceptionally well. End of season reviews, including MVP, etc will be released shortly.

It's been a great season and I'd like to thank all managers who have supported me and the NZ U21 team this season. There is still more greatness that will come with time, as the program has only started.

Scrimmage: vs Scotland - LOSS: 108 - 90

We gave our U20's a run with 8 participating in the game along with our season 49 captains (Josh Cockayne and Neerim Larbi) giving their leadership from the bench and in the locker room. Although it wasn't enough to get us the win (mainly due to inexperience), the boys have learnt how to gel together for the upcoming season.

MVPs: (NOTE: This will not count for the season MVP voting)
1. John Maurice
2. Dwayne O'Meley
3. Xi Yonghao

Next Game:
vs TBC soon.

Well done mate, hopefully I can get a decent prospect in the draft and have a player or two in the team in a couple of seasons!

Scrimmage: vs Macau - LOSS: 112 - 110

Due to all the scouting and all that in preparation for next season, we lost to a weak Macau team by 2 points with our very low (1) enthusiasm. A loss is a loss but the main aim of these scrimmages were to prepare for next season and give the manager next season (whether its me or someone new) something to work with so that we can compete.

MVPs: (NOTE: This will not count for the season MVP voting)
1. Dwayne O'Meley
2. Dhasaradakumaran Pushparaj
3. John Maurice

Next Game:
vs TBC soon. However, I will try to get an Asian rival (again, to prepare for next season)

Update(s):
- I will be running for the U21 job again next season, as I feel like there is unfinished business.
- More scouting will be done soon, so if I've missed a player who you believe should make the U21 team next season, don't hesitate to BB-Mail me.
- Season conclusion and season awards will be announced this weekend.

End of Season Review - NZ U21 Season 49

We started the season in the consolation tournament with a default win against Ireland as ranked number 63 in the world. We then finished the season with a loss against Denmark as ranked number 62 in the world. Although we only moved up 1 world rank in the entire season, we had a very successful season.

Since season 35, there has only been one other season (season 45) where NZ's U21 team has won three or more games in the consolation tournament which shows how successful the season was for us. Our five losses this season came against two asian rivals (Malaysia and Thailand) and three European powerhouses (Bosnia, England and Denmark) which shows the level of competition we faced this season.

Additionally, at the start of the season, I only had a database of around 20 players but as the season progressed, we started to get new managers in which added to the database to around 35 players now.

I'd also like to thank the many NZ managers who have supported me throughout the season, whether its through training players, assisting me with tactics or assisting in other ways to make it as successful as it can be.

Season MVP Votings:
1. Neerim Larbi - 16 votes
2. Josh Cockayne - 9 votes
3. Daniel Dyhouse - 7 votes
4. Waylon Timu - 3 votes
4. John Maurice - 3 votes
6. Brodey Star - 2 votes
7. George Jabano - 1 vote
7. Jose Woakes - 1 vote

Congratulations to Neerim Larbi, and his manager, Jawbone (Nui Nutters) for a great season.
Also, congratulations to Josh Cockayne, and his manager, DAN (We are the future) for the runners up award.
Both of these players led the team out throughout the season and should be commended for their efforts this season.

Other Awards:
Most Points Scored: Neerim Larbi (138 Points)
Most Rebounds: Neerim Larbi (72 Rebounds)
Most Assists: Dwayne O'Meley (53 Assists)
Most Appearances: Josh Cockayne (8/8 Appearances)

Congratulations to the award recipients and their managers for a great season.

Season 50 is coming up, and scouting has already begun as we look to compete against other Asian nations in the Asia U21 Championship Tournament.

Again, thanks for all your support!
