Hey guys, I dropped down from D3. Had some building mistakes and a few players who didn't work out. Looking forward to a great season with you guys.

I have a question for those of you who may know more about basketball/buzzerbeater than me: is it feasible to build your team around solid rebounding? I average more rebounds per game than the top team from each conference (58.3) and yet I'm 3-4. I know this could be due to my lack of depth, and I've had a decently tough schedule to start the season, but this is still a much slower start to this season than I anticipated.

To win in this game you need a balance of everything. Rebounding alone wont win you games if the guys cant score. Rebounding is an important part because it limits the opponent's second chance shots and will get you extra put back opportunities. But you will need a mix of Inside scoring, outside scoring, inside defense, outside defense, ball handling, and passing to be a good team. I suggest you build by training. Find you 3-6 18 year old prospects and get an advanced or better trainer. Pick either Big Men, Guards, or Small Forwards. Then train them in the skills best suited for their positions. So if you train big men first, train Inside Shot, Inside Defense, Rebounding, and Shot Blocking. They will also need to be able to handle the ball. If you are training Guards you will need Outside defense, Jump Shot, Jump Range, Ball Handling, and Passing. Small Forwards are the hardest to train because you are training everything and it is time consuming. Ideally, you can train 3 big men with single position training for 3 or 4 seasons and then train 3 guards for 3 or 4 seasons and by the team your oldest trainee is 26 you will have 6 solid players on your team, trained how you want. You will also be saving money the whole time and will have money saved to fill the holes and depth and work on your arena seating. Hope this helps some.

I currently have 3 main trainees. Teng Qiang Fu is my main trainee, he's going to be a SF who's skills are 9/6/12/13/6 10/6/11/5 (?), and I have a center who I've only been training in big men skills, he's at 13/13/15/8 for inside skills. My worse trainee is Jamjt whos also a good inside defender (13) and shot blocking (9), but is only a 9 in rebounding, so I obviously have some rebounding training to go, before giving them all a pop in IS and ID, before moving on to passing. So obviously I'm very inside oriented, but considering I wanna run a 3-2 defense, I need more inside defense and rebounding which is frustrating because my two top trainees are already good at rebounding.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense, I was typing this in a hurry

I wouldn't make your goal be to run a 3-2 defense always. You need to be able to adjust to other teams. If you are running a 3-2 against a very good inside orientated team with good passing and driving skills your outside orientated defense wont help. You will do well against teams with low passing and low flow but teams who can move the ball past your perimeter defenders will kill you. You need to train total packages from start to finish. Your bigs need to have a good base of IS/ID/RB/BS as well as having some OD/Passing/Handling. Your perimeter guys need to have a good base of Handling/Passing/OD/JS/JR/Drive and it doesn't hurt if they have some ID and RB and SB as well. Your SF needs to have a well rounded balance of all of these skills to really be effective but SFs usually tip the scale more in one direction or the other as far as Inside and Outside skills and base that on your other players and what type of offense that you would prefer to run. Its not a game where you can win overnight which is why a lot of guys quit. Sometimes it takes 6 or 7 seasons to just build a solid base of players to start winning with. Patience and training is usually the key. Just keep training however you want and if it doesn't work how you planned you can always sell and start over again. Training only makes players more valuable so you will at least get paid for your time.

I don't plan on using 3-2 as my everyday defense, I will mix in base, but I do want to experiment with 3-2 as I feel the upsides of having that as a solid defensive option is a phenomenal option.

Welcome back you two! The game has not changed much but the changes that were made you can read about on the forums.
