Nothing prevents a team from tossing game 2 in order to get a game 3 and have a 3 game training week now, so I really don't understand what point you are trying to make. This simply removed any economic incentive to throw the second game. The two teams simple get a set amount regardless of whether the series takes 2 or 3 games.
