I didn't use my scouting points last season, so I picked up two Lvl 4 players. I'm not really asking how to develop them, but I'm curious as to what others do with those kinds of players Do you develop them anyways for the sake of keeping a homegrown team? Do you think they can have value in the market?

It really depends on their skill points and what your team needs. If they have value you could sell them or train them. Otherwise, if you need someone to absorb minutes, keep them as scrubs.

If they have decent skills, they'd be great to keep around for Cup minutes (especially against bots) and possibly even backup minutes for regular play. They can also be useful to train to help bolster your team if you're trying to be relatively cheap - though I'd probably aim for star/allstar potential for that.

If their skills are bad, they're really only good to have their faces edited, to be scrimmage fodder, or to test out the efficiency of the unemployment line.

So what's so significant about getting Cup minutes?

If you're in a competitive league, being able to play your best players in the league games and having good enough players remaining to play in the Cup and still win is a good thing. You can always instead choose one of your three games a week to throw, and a lot of teams do that semi-routinely, but maximizing your league performance *and* Cup performance helps keep your fan survey up, which is good for the bottom line.
