Buzzer Manager says, that SB could be raised to 10/11 without much damage do the potential, so it is worth doing... Thanks for an advice

SB gives less salary and more impact in GE.

I would say that the statement that you've made is questionable...

Testing in D.IV has also limited reliability - I play it as well and would not make clear statements based on the results (which are decent;)).

Why "wasting" time raising defenses to double 15 on a perennial all star? i think it's worth paying more for a superstar-mvp if your aim is to create a super solid player.

He is home-grown and I would like him to stay in my team for many years to come. He has played in u21, so that was another reason why I've decided to train him - patriotic one ;). It is not training for an income to make, but for myself.

Rising defences to 15s is also doable - I've seen a PA SF with double 16s in defences and TSP of 128 (currently on TL and a bit over-caped) doing good job in D.II and D.I for many seasons.

If you want to go for higher defense then I would suggest

1) Train more SB (as already mentioned). I would say keep SB and ID level.

2) Don't train 1-on-1 too much because why would the player need it that high? He will not be a good option on offense anyway. Rather train passing to help with the flow and shot creation for better offense players.

1v1 is pratically free if the player stay in the AP formula, the player will shot anyway so why not having a "free" skill? hn help with the flow anyway.

It might be "free" salary- or even cap-wise.
However, you can spend the time training these skills better on other skills that will make your player more valuable.
Even training other players might be more valuable than adding "useless" skills to the player.

If you spend one of three/six training slots of your (expensive) trainer on a player and his training does not result in a significantly better match performance (or at least higher market value), then why do it? You actually lose money.

E.g. a player with low scoring and passing skills and very high driving and handling is not much more useful as the same player without the driving and handling.
