First and foremost...I love this game! I will continue playing it until it exists no longer...although I hope that day never arrives. But because it is increasingly looking a possibility I thought I'd create this thread.

This is a thread for several purposes:

1. To engage users on the topic question
2. Bring the opinions of users to BB's attention
3. Maybe, just maybe, find some avenues for rejuvenating BB

BB once had 60k+ users and is, as of today, less than half of that! I have been playing since Season 14 and have watched a steady downward curve in the number of BB users.

TOPIC QUESTION: Why is BB dying a slow death?

Poll:  Do you think BB is dying a slow death?

Definately not! We're just in a slump...
Maybe; I'm worried about the future of BB.
Definately! Sadly, it's just a matter of time.

Thanks, EGM-Perpete for those facts. I'm sure it's been brought up across a number of threads (I have read a couple myself, Facebook idea etc) but like all things BB, having one place to discuss one topic is perhaps beneficial. As a thread that will just keep going (unless it is deemed anti-BB...which I am not intending it to be) it will allow past, present, and future users a thread to read, respond to and voice their thoughts on this manner.

I really want BB to survive, and even better, thrive! How can BB users help this happen? Realistically of course...

I love the game. But I think it's too hard to start from nothing in this game. New managers fall out quickly, ecpecially if not BBall fans. I made a "Mentor scheme" in Denmark. Worked well. some of the managers that entered have beome really good. I think this is one of the ways to keep new guys playing.

But it's also a lot of work for the mentor.

Once players are hooked, it's a great game. So it's about getting them hooked before they quit for some reason.

+1 for the Mentor idea

Great reason, Mod-worthy42. This is an excellent way of 'keeping' the newbies! It was how I got involved (being mentored by some of the best, if not the best, Aussie managers).

I used to play between season 11 and season 22. I was a very active user back then and I remember between 50 and 60k users. When I returned two weeks ago I was shocked to see that there were only 27,000 left. My reccomendation is for them to follow through with making an app and to pay for advertising with different basketball related personalities on the internet where they can find cheap ads (Basketball Trainers on YouTube, NBA 2k YouTubers, websites targetted toward real basketball)

I think the first thing that needs to be set into action, which BB Marin has already addressed he is looking into, is a BB App. I think this should help not only keep managers staying longer but also bring some more advertisement and money to BB. More money for BB equals more advertisement options available to them. People are always making small suggestions to "make BB better" but I feel like it doesnt matter how much we make BB better, if we can not advertise for more users and make enough money in order to do that. BB App top priority and after that, things could open up a bit.

I agree with the app idea 100%. A BB app is long past overdue, and an app has to be created before anything else is to be done regarding this game. If BB doesn't make an app soon than I'm afraid the amount of users currently registered on the site will continue to decrease. It may sound like people are just lazy but I think we can all agree that some people just don't have enough time to flip open their laptops and log on to the site, especially as people get older and have jobs, school, relationships, etc.

The world's reliance on mobile devices is increasing, and BB has to supply its consumers what they demand. We all know (well, at least the Americans) what happened to Blockbuster once Netflix came around and Blockbuster didn't get in on the deliveries or streaming that Netflix provided. Sadly, Blockbuster is no more. BB is undoubtedly the best online game I've ever played, and I don't want to see it come to a screeching halt just because an app was never created. There's probably more to it then I know, but I really cannot see any consequences that could come from creating an app, other than having to sacrifice time and a little bit of money.

Agreed. Keep it short and simple an app for Buzzerbeater will do wonders in many ways!

I'm going to agree about the app. It'll help keep older members from leaving as well as provide a new avenue for essentially free advertising. I imagine the first week the app is out, thousands of users will be downloading it and that will, in turn, put the app on "Trending this week" lists, which will then rally in new players. Furthermore, very few really goes out of their way to tell their friends about BB as is. With an app, the mere fact that you downloaded it or rated it can alert your friends of the app and draw more "free advertising" that way as time goes by.

On a different note, there are two ways to increase the userbase: by maintaining old users and by acquiring new ones. I think the BB's should analyze whether the amount of users leaving have been increasing over time - a fix in maintaining users would be much cheaper and easier to accomplish than to acquire new users.

For everyone talking about the App, this is something that is being looked into quite a lot.

Backstory if you have not seen it:

Marin seems like he very much wants to make one as well it is just a matter of who can help with it and how to do it, because it is kind of a sticky situation if you read his posts and why one hasn't been made yet.
