In a twist no-one saw coming regarding the recent club and management saga, Coach MrJ, loved by fans of both clubs, made a shock announcement earlier today.
"It gives me great pleasure," a beaming MrJ told the gathered press. "To announce that the Westopian Tigers and soon to be renamed Swan River Serpents, were acquired by myself officially late yesterday afternoon; I am now both owner and coach," he told the stunned crowd.
Seconds later, the crowd erupted, cheering this announcement. Questions were fired left and right regarding the club's future plans and the name the Swan River Serpents will soon go by. MrJ was concise in his single answer:
"There are two things I would like to state now. Firstly, the rebranding of the Swan River Serpents is ready to be launched at the start of next season, Season 70. The rebrand, and new look, will better reflect the strong and mighty club it is," Coach and owner MrJ explained. "And secondly, regarding the Westopian Tigers, this great team, already certain for finals this season, will begin its golden age in Season 71."
The crowd started to bubble again with this news.
"Furthermore, it is our hope that the rebranded Swan River Serpents will also begin their golden era in Season 71! So, to all the faithful members, get your tickets and merchandise now!" With that, MrJ left the podium.
