July 6, 2025 — The Pleasant Red Lions are officially Division III.11 champions — and are now headed to Division II — after a thrilling 102-101 victory over ROVINA, sealed by a last-second buzzer-beater from Yiorgos "Y2K" Kavoyiannis on ROVINA’s home court.
The Red Lions led the game from the opening tip, showcasing dominance and composure. But with 7:36 left in the fourth quarter, ROVINA took their first lead at 86-85, setting up a tense and unforgettable finish.
What followed was a battle of wills. The lead changed hands multiple times, and with just seconds remaining, the Red Lions found themselves down by one. Then came the moment that will live in club history: Kavoyiannis, with the clock expiring, rose up and buried a cold-blooded two-point jumper at the buzzer — silencing the ROVINA faithful and crowning Pleasant as champions.
“This team never stopped believing,” said Head Coach. “Even when the momentum shifted, we stayed composed. Yiorgos delivered when it mattered most.” “This is more than just a win — it’s a statement,” said Head Coach. “We’ve worked all season for this moment, and now we’re taking the Red Lions to Division II.”
This championship marks a major milestone: promotion to Division II, where the club will face tougher competition and brighter spotlights.
