I guess I'll just throw the thread up. Welcome to the new and returning teams, and good luck to everyone this season. Everyone looks pretty stacked so it should be brutal and interesting. eff Apex for having me looking in the completely wrong direction and playing away from my not as weak weaknesses in the finals and eff Wasted Potential who knocked 25% of the NBBA out of the tournament last season but was too classy to give himself coach of the year.

Yeah the NBBA looks as tough this season as ever. I guess I better pick up some actual bench guys.

Don't think we didn't notice the name change. Welcome back to the NBBA! What an accomplishment to do it on two teams. You have a chance at the most wins in NBBA history now.

Additionally, to anyone who wants, we have a specific NBBA chat on the USA discord where we discuss the league and talk during games: https://discord.gg/QHEpuEAV

It is fun to have more people from the league in their, so feel free to join and send me a message when you do.

Highlights on the discord from last season include:

Apex revealing his entire roster
Bid wars on NT players in live chat
Watching Antwon get mad at losing the tank war to southpaw army
Watching Apex lose to Slabs and the reaction in real time

the name change was my personal reward for getting back here. judging from last night, it looks like it might be little more than a cup of coffee -- if this were a story, i would be noticing all the foreshadowing of a disastrous season:

-- my national ranking puts among the weakest teams; crap, i count three D2 teams stronger than the Guard
-- i thought Apex was rebuilding, and he is, but he defeated my fellow D2 promotee and champion on a last second shot; what in the world are the Lions or ETBU capable of?
-- i saw players with game ratings of 17 in some box scores -- on respectable GS. i've got a roster full of players who have never sniffed a 17 gr, even late in the season.
-- league salaries dwarf mine -- oh, did i mention i'm broke?

so, to borrow again from Lennon/McCartney, you say hello, i say goodbye!

Yeah I may have told a few of the NBBA guys about your secret prior to you altering it since I remember our BB-Mail conversation from Division 4... long time no see by the way ;)

I was going to start up this post but I got caught at the worst time. Just packed up a full 2 bedroom house and moved from CT to VA and drove 8 hours in a U-Haul to unpack it all. Appreciate you Lions for taking up the reigns on it and welcoming in the new guys.

I saw I took down Sofuegg in a buzzerbeater (pretty sure that's the first one of those I've had in a LONG time). I decided to take advantage of a normal + home game + lackey is still around + 7GS week to try and sneak a win. Looks like he hasn't made too many moves yet so I figured why not give it a go.

I'll leave my tanking as a note that I'll be floating slightly over salary floor this season and will have no qualms about winning games if I feel like I can do so at salary floor. If I win enough of those not to tank out then I won't leave. The easiest way to make money in BB is sitting in D1 on salary floor so I'll do it as long as y'all let me ;)

But yeah I did post my whole roster on the Discord and we banter on there a lot. Highly recommend anyone in here to at least accept the invite and check it out. If it's not your cup of tea you can always leave but we use the forums a bit less nowadays since we can chat on there and talk about games live and so on.

2x NBBA Champion: S55, S56. 3x USA Cup Champion: S54, S55, S56. WR for longest home streak ever at 11 in Season 47.

I'd heard rumors that you might be somewhere approaching the NBBA again but even after I saw the name change, wasn't really sure. Didn't expect to start this season #2 in active NBBA wins but looks like I've got some work to do now!

Welcome back!!

i can't figure out what the take-away from last night's game with the Anteaters should be. First half, damn, the Guard are world beaters, up by 14 at halftime, on pace for 100 points and a sweet victory. Second half, i swear, the Guard are replaced by zombified replicants programmed to throw up bricks, as Irvine came back to win the second half, and the game, 45-18.

i don't even know where to begin to look for an explanation.

if we aggregate the quarterly scores by basket shot at, then we have teams shooting at basket A defeating basket B by 95-54. On Irving's home court. Maybe we shoulda checked the baskets?

or maybe it was coach Marcum's instructions at halftime to "take it easy", which is not a good thing to say to an out-of-shape, inexplicably arrogant team. of course, the loss could be due to the fact the Anteaters are simply a better team but, as an illustration of the problem, Marcum discounts that possibility and instead insists the Guard lost the game, not that Irvine won the game.

Next: Figuring out how to lose to the reigning National Champions. "We'll figure out a way to lose, trust me", said coach Marcum, confidently.
