A quick background for teams that are unaware:
We all know that every season the league champion promotes into the next highest division. However, there is also a small chance for teams to promote that don't win their league title. Why is this? Each division level has 4 times the amount of leagues than the division above it. However, 5 teams from each league demote each season which means every league has one extra spot to fill in addition to filling them with the league champions. These spots are filled through auto promotion slots.
Auto promotion slots are given out based on the following criteria:
1. Conference ranking
2. Win/Loss record
3. PD
4. Most points scored
There are the following amount of auto promotion slots from each division:
Division 2: 1 extra team promotes
Division 3: 4 extra teams promote
Division 4: 16 extra teams promote
Additionally there are normally even more teams that promote from each division to fill the slots occupied by bots. However, this season there will be no bot promotion slots as there are no bots in Division 2 or the NBBA and the only bots in division 3 are set to demote through relegation anyway. If a bot in division 3 were to win their relegation series then we would have an additional auto promotion slot from division 4 available.
I have gathered the data on all the USA conference leaders to make a list of teams that can possibly fill one of these auto promotion slots. I have put a cutoff line indicating which teams would be given the auto promotion slot today if we had no league champions from this list (these teams above the lines are guaranteed promotion). However, many of these teams will win their league championship and thus the auto promotion slot will be given to a team lower on the list. If you are not on the list then you have no shot at an auto promotion slot unless teams go bot before the end of the season or a bot wins relegation and every league winner is a team higher than you on this list.
This data was relatively easy to compile, so I can do this each season before the playoffs.
