Welcome to Season 31! (part 1)
The current system of Free Agency has been seriously overhauled. So far, only one criteria was used to determine whether a player will end up on the transfer market as a free agent or be retired: player salary. The result was that most free agents have turned out to be old and, in borderline cases, mono-skilled players. Young, high potential players, with a broader range of skills were forever lost. Therefore, we decided replace the current system with one that determines free agency eligibility based on a wider range of parameters like age, potential and a total skill point count, all the while making sure the cream of the crop doesn't end up retired, as the wouldn't in real life. Older players have a higher tendency to retire and enjoy their hard earned cash, which means that in order to be free transfered, they need to have a wide range of skills. However, young players compensate their lack of skills with high potential. This will surely change the range and flavor of free agents in the market, making them more spread out over the age spectrum, evening out some price discrepancies.

As a small perk for all our users and in order to boost the visibility of our forums, we have decided to add an unread messages counter beside the “Forums” link in the menu, just like the existing one for the BB-mail messages. Hopefully, it will help users keep track of their forum discussions. Another small change is made in the calculation of the Overextension Tax, which is now calculated based on an average income for each season (rather than just last match income) in an attempt to make the tax fair in all cases. Furthermore, the “The team played well in our last league game” category on the Fan Survey page will no longer take offseason matches into account, making the category more in line with its name.

Our Supporters get an improvement of the team history page: a new box containing a breakdown of teams history wins and losses, total and by type, for all competitive matches. A great little piece of statistics to show off to your friends and fellow competitors.

A small improvement has been made to the signup process too: new users can now choose an approximate starting level in their respective countries. They can use the old system, used so far for all new teams, which puts them in mid to low level leagues, but new choices include low level, bot filled leagues which almost guarantees a quick promotion and a nice advancement curve, or high level, human filled leagues (where available, top leagues excluded) which guarantees tough competition right from the start, carrying a risk of imminent demotion. We trust these options will enable new users to find a better fit for them when starting the adventure that is BB!

The “Ask a BB Day” event has had a nice reception from users last season so we decided to make give it another go. BB-Marin will, with the help of our EGM’s, EGM-Nickleon and EGM-Perpete, try to give an answer to all of your questions, as they come. A new thread will be created in the BB-Global (English) forum starting at noon (CET), on the 6th of May, and will last till noon the next day, so make sure you don’t miss it!

On the global front, we would like to congratulate the China NT and the manager 尤利安敏兹 for winning the world championship against USA with 98 - 82 score in a highly contested game. Meanwhile, the best NT teams in the world are currently preparing their luggage for a trip to Taiwan where next seasons NT championship will be held.

In other news, the BuzzerBeater's Best Tournament was won by the team KK Mordor managed by LA-Saur0n, who became the second Serbian manager to get the big trophy after winning in the big final over cla3000 and his team the Høsten BK, with a final result of 105 - 91.

The B3 prediction contest winners are Serbian manager Matya, followed by alireza7 from Iran and Italian ma
